Mary Bernice (Latko) Kajstura

Mary Bernice Kajstura, nee Latko, 60, of Ormond Beach passed to eternal life on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Advent Health Hospital in Ormond Beach, FL in the arms of her loving husband, Alex.  

Mary was born January 17, 1962 in Batavia, NY, the first of five children of Richard and the late Eleanor Latko of Oakfield, NY.  

She was a devout Roman Catholic who maintained a faithful prayer life and was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Ormond Beach.  Mary graduated from Oakfield-Alabama Jr. Sr. High School and with a degree in business and music from Genesee Community College, and studied at SUNY Brockport, NY and Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, FL. 

Mary enjoyed music, travel, cooking and loved animals, rescuing many cats. Mary was happy living in Upstate New York, but enjoyed visiting the warm sunny beaches of Florida where she met Alex, fell in love, and moved to Ormond Beach permanently.  Mary had a big heart, generous personality and never met a stranger. She was a licensed insurance agent, retail business manager and dental office professional. Mary was involved with the Council of Catholic Women at Prince of Peace Church.  

Survivors include the love of her life, husband, Alex Kajstura of Ormond Beach, FL, her father Richard J. Latko of Oakfield, NY; her brothers and sisters Richard J. (Daisy) Latko, Jr. Kathleen Padgett, Laura M. (Michael D.) Scarborough, and George (Diana) Latko several nephews, a great-nephew and her faithful cat Jackson.

Family and friends are invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Saturday (Sept. 3rd) from 10am-11am at St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple Ave., Oakfield, where Mary’s Funeral Mass will commence at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow immediately.
