Arthur M. Schmidt, 72 of Lockport, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening (November 3, 2022) at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.

He was born September 8, 1950 in East Stroudsburg, PA, a son of the late Arthur F.P. Schmidt and Anne Smith Wilhem.

Art was an underwater commercial diver and was the C.E.O. of his company, Underwater Consultants International, Inc for many years. He loved everything fast. Fast cars and fast motorcycles. His dream was to travel the country and race his street car. He was a lover of food and enjoyed cooking and generously taking out family and friends to fine dining establishments. Art will be missed by all who knew his caring ways.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Kress Schmidt of Lockport. Son, Art Jr. (Ann) Schmidt of Wind Gap, PA. Step-children, Sue (Chad) Rudolph of Batavia, Jody (Dan) Miles of Batavia, Ken Matthies of Akron and Faith (Chris) Milhollen of Akron. Grandchildren, Savannah, Brielle Schmidt, Hunter Miles, Grace Rudolph, Brooke Milhollen, Darel Matthies and Henry Matthies.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Tuesday (Nov. 8th) from 5-8pm at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 32 John St., Akron, NY, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11am.
