Betty M. Schmieder

Batavia/Alexander - Betty M. Schmieder, 92 of Batavia, formerly of Alexander, passed away on Thursday, (November 10, 2022) at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Batavia.

Mrs. Schmieder was born February 3, 1930 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Millard and Margaret (Schuster) Calkins.

Betty had a great love for animals and cared for many throughout her life. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling with her late sister, Carol.

Surviving are her children, Michael (Terry) Schmieder of Alexander, Stephen (Robin) Schmieder of Alexander, Paula (Jeff Welker) Lord of Georgia, Mary (Joe Wyland) Schmieder of Batavia, Eric Schmieder of Alexander, Joanne (Joseph) Laney of Alexander, and Paul (Lynette) Schmieder, Jr. of Alexander; daughter-in-law, Lisa Schmieder of Stafford. 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schmieder, Sr.; brother, Dean (late Chris) Calkins, and sister, Carol (late Jim) Geise.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday (November 26, 2022) from 3 to 4 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co.
