He was born on January 16, 1958 in Batavia a son of Elma L. Glor Smith of LeRoy and the late John R. Smith.
A 1976 graduate of Alexander Central School, he graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in human resources. He retired from Bordon Dairy in Atlanta and moved to the Panama City, Fla. area shortly thereafter. Greg, an avid NASCAR enthusiast, loved fishing and the outdoors. He was never without a fishing pole – even carrying one in the trunk of his car for lunchbreaks.
Surviving along with his mother is his brother, Jeffrey R. (Theresa) Smith of LeRoy; nieces and nephews, Maggie (Edward) Augugliaro, Allison (Vincent) Paolotto, Matthew Smith and Ryan (Elizabeth) Smith; aunts, Arlene Teal, Aggie Smith, Nancy Rieks and Judy (Nicholas) Cecci along with several cousins.
Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11 a.m. at the East Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5735 Ellicott Street Road, East Bethany. His memorial service will immediately follow visitation at 11 am. He will be laid to rest in East Bethany Cemetery.
