Peter S. Neer, 72, of Mount Morris, NY, previously East Bethany, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born June 23, 1950 in Great Barrington, MA, a son of Catherine (Thorp) Kuhn and the late Ronald C. Neer.
Peter was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going to classic car shows with his friend, Randy, and playing cards with family and friends. He was a card shark that rarely lost a game. Peter’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. “Pop-Pop,” as his grandchildren called him, would take them to apple farms, his swimming pool, ROC Holiday Village to meet Santa, family BBQs, and so much more. His grandchildren were one of the highlights of his life. He was most known for giving the best hugs and the firmest handshakes, which will be sorely missed.
Surviving is his wife, Sue Neer of Mount Morris, NY, previously East Bethany; mother, Catherine Kuhn of Colorado; his children, Peter S. (Cara) Neer Jr. of North Chili and Shayna Jeannette (Richard) Bennett of Henrietta; his grandchildren, Grady Joseph Neer of North Chili and Harper Sue Bennett of Henrietta; his siblings, Charles (Barb) Neer of Ohio, Sharon (Ken) Mackey of Colorado, and Dianne (Richard) Hearn of Florida; his best friend, who was like a brother to him, Randy Sheard of Pavilion; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
Peter’s funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Parish, 303 E. Main Street, Batavia, NY with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery to follow.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home in Batavia, NY.
