Noreen L. “Reene” Platten (nee Dusel) of Corfu went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2024 at the age of 75.  She was born at St. Jerome’s Hospital in Batavia on August 20, 1948 to the late Joseph and Delores (Meyer) Dusel.

She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Albert G. Platten; devoted mother to Amy Lou Platten, Pamela Jo Loverdi and Jill (Corey) Duzen; loving grandmother to Sean, Paul, Breanne and Amber; great-grandmother to William and Raelynn; dear sibling to Alan (Brenda) Dusel of Williamsville, Elaine (Thomas) Franco of Batavia;  the late Janice Miller whose husband remains a loving member of the family; sister in law to the late Thomas (Joann & Jean Mickey) Platten, the late Robert R. (Anne) Platten Sr., and Calvin J. (Ruth) Platten, along with many niece, nephews and cousins.

Reene graduated from Pembroke Central HS in 1966 and worked at E.N. Rowell Co. Inc. Plant #2 as a secretary for many years. It was while she worked there that she met her husband, Albert, an estimator and purchasing agent at Plant #1. Albert, a Marine Corps Veteran, proposed to his sweetheart on February 10, 1968 at her kitchen table where she excitedly ran in to the living room to show her parents the ring. The couple was married at St. Francis Church in Corfu on September 7, 1968 by Rev. Robert Thornberry.

Reene had a passion for crocheting and spending time in nature camping, walking and traveling with Albert in their motorhome. She and Albert were also active members with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 67. Reene was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord, her family and many friends. She was an active member at several churches including St. Francis in Corfu, St. Maximilian Kolbe in E. Pembroke, St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s in Batavia where she was a member of the Bishops Council.
