Mary Robutka

Mary Robutka, 97, a native of Batavia known to her friends as “Midge” passed away September 8, 2015 in El Cajon/Cottonwood Caynon Health Care Center, California. She was born in Batavia February 9, 1918 to the late James R. (Louisa Scammaca) Mocciaro. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter J. Robutka, who passed away October 11, 1984; son Peter J. Robutka who passed away April 5, 2005 at age 51; brothers Harry (Rosario) Sando Mocciaro, Anthony, Ralph, Salvatore, and Lewis Mocciaro; sisters Partina Dixon, and Margaret Bevin

Mary was a member of St. John of The Cross Church in Lemon Grove, CA. She served as Adult Funeral Acolytes. Mary taught CCD classes and was a teacher aide at Merry Go-round Nursery School in Lemon Grove. Mary loved her faith, every morning she would walk 1.5 miles into town to attend mass, and then back home. Her back yard had red and white poinsettia trees and two different varieties of fig trees. Each year she would make fig jam preserves and dry them to share with family and friends to make homemade fig bars.  While living in California, Mary’s heart was always in Batavia.

Surviving are her son, John L.  (Cindy) Robutka of Texas; grandchildren Michael, William, Christine, Dustin (Amanda) and Bobbie Jo Robutka and Angeline Headlee; great grandchildren Kaytlyn, Ellie, Chaz, Caileigh and Madisyn; sisters Rose Marino of CA, Nicollette Ozzimo of Las Vegas, Caroline (Cas) Maliszewski, Josephine (Robert) Colombo and Anita Dziekan all of Batavia; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday September 17, 2015 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. A 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday  September 18, 2015 at Resurrection Parish 303 E. Main Street in Batavia. She will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
