Esther Cotton

Batavia - Esther Cotton, 103, of Batavia, passed away Saturday, (September 19, 2015) at the Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia.

Mrs. Cotton was born April 7, 1912 in Cogan House, PA, a daughter of the late Oliver and Mary Rosella (Meyer) Brewer.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Batavia since approximately 1932 where she served as former church treasurer and secretary and was a member of the Bonafied Class.  She volunteered at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital in the Snack Shop, was a Girl Scout Troop leader for 13 years, former secretary of the U.S. Power Squadronetts, taught the NYS Young Boaters Course for 4 years; was a member of the Bridge Club, 500 Club and Order of the Eastern Star #247 in Batavia. She was also a member of Sunset Beach since 1940

She is the wife of the late Roy E. Cotton, who passed away in 1969.

Surviving are her children, Richard (late Shirley) Cotton of Batavia, and Linda (James) Beachel of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cheryl Hyde) Cotton of Elba, Mark (Cheryl) Cotton of Corfu, Cathy (Anthony "Tony") Mancuso of Batavia, Beth Ann (Douglas) Diegelman of Batavia, Debra (Robert) Perry of Barre Center, and Douglas (Brittnie) Beachel of Baldwinsville.  11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a niece also survive.

Esther is preceded in death by her brother, Foster (late Mary) Brewer; and her sister, Dorothy (late William) Denius.

Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Rd., Batavia, where Esther’s Funeral Service will immediately follow calling at 11.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.
