Evelyn Frances Harloff

Rocky River, Ohio - Evelyn Frances Harloff, 89, of Rocky River, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Normandy Manor Skilled Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Harloff was born January 11, 1926 in Elba, a daughter of the late Clark B. Churchill and Bessie A. Conniber Churchill.

Evelyn's mother died of pneumonia when she was a child. Life was hard on the farm, electricity and running water were in the future and at age 10, Evelyn was working with horses in the field with her dad.

She graduated from Elba high school, and then waited until she was 18 to marry because she didn't want to ask for permission. Evelyn married a farmer and trucker, Wesley James Harloff on January 13, 1944. He passed away on May 16, 1999.

After his passing, Evelyn lived in Bradenton with her son, Larry until 2006. She then moved to North Olmsted, Ohio and lived with her son Gary and daughter-in-law Sally until 2012. Her eyesight had been diminishing so she became a resident of Normandy Care Center in 2012.

She was a professing Christian and also enjoyed music, dancing and putting puzzles together.

Survivors include three sons; Gary James Harloff of North Olmsted, Ohio, Richard Roy Harloff of South Africa, and Larry Francis Harloff of Bradenton, Florida; nine grandchildren, June Harloff of Ohio, Eve (Rob) Eacott of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Susan (Matthew) Boothe of St. Petersburg, Florida, Nancy Harloff of North Olmsted, Ohio, Morgan Harloff of Boston, Massachusetts, Mason Harloff of San Diego, California, George Harloff of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wesley and William Harloff both of Orlando Florida; four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jessica and Victoria Eacott of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Grant Boothe of St. Petersburg, Florida.

She is the youngest and last surviving of eight children; Floyd A. (Joyce) Churchill, Laura Mae (Jack) Wilcox and Carmon, Dorothy A. (Everett) Johnson, Marion E. (Elmer) Wilks, Virginia (Fred) Pilgrim, Alice E. (John) Griswold and (Archy) Oltz and Harold E. Churchill.

There are no prior visiting hours. Friends and family are invited to graveside services on Saturday, October 10th at 2:30 p.m. at Grand View Cemetery, 86 Clinton Street, Batavia.  Please leave a condolence, share a story or light a candle at www.bataviafuneralhomes.com.
