Homer Stanley Green

Homer S. Green, 73, passed away on January 20, 2018 at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw, New York while surrounded by family. Homer was born April 24, 1944 in Medina, NY to the late Howard (Margaret) Green. He is predeceased by grand parents Stanley(Nina) Breeze and William(Lillian) Green.

Homer attended school in Lyndonville, NY. He left prior to graduating to help out on his family’s farm. In February of 1962 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until April 23, 1965. He worked very hard over the years, working for Lipton’s, Perry Harvester, and Keeler Construction. He retired from Barden Homes in Middleport, NY. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and all around outdoorsman. He was a man that loved life and everything about it. He truly enjoyed the seasons as he loved turkey and deer hunting as well as bullhead and trout fishing. He lived out the majority of his life at his “Little piece of Heaven” located in Kuckville, NY. He was a member of the Lake Shore Sportsman’s Club, Junior Wilson’s and the Vet’s Club in Medina, NY. After a lengthy illness suffered in 2011 he relocated to Clearwater, FL and was cared for by his daughter Cheryl and her family. In February 2016, he relocated once again back to New York to be closer to his siblings and other family.

He is survived by his sister, Lois James (Potsdam, NY), and two brothers, Leroy(Richard) Green (Denver, CO), Gary(Brenda) Green (Mount Morris, NY) and his cousin Roland(Sharon) Green (Sandusky, OH) who was always considered as another brother. His daughter, Cheryl(Jim) Hauff (Trinity, FL), and son, Steven(Heather) Marciszewski (Elba, NY), three granddaughters that he was extremely proud of Amanda(David) Fenn (Perry, NY), Sarah Hauff(Josh Champ) (Clearwater, FL), and Makayla Hauff (Trinity, FL) and two great grandsons Lyric Fenn and Noah Champ. He is also survived by his step children, Cindy Ishmael (Albion, NY), David Marciszewski (Lakeland, FL), Gary(Melissa) Marciszewski (Lyndonville, NY), Bonnie(Jim) Baldwin (Elba, NY), and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.

At this time there are no services scheduled but the family is intending on a celebration of life at a later date. Amanda Rose McDonald

Amanda Rose McDonald 36, of Batavia, was called to Heaven on Sunday, January21, 2018 at home.

Survivors include her children Dylan Bradley McDonald-Holland, Giana Mruczek and Lakoda Mruczek, father,  Bill (Kay) McDonald, brothers Daniel McDonald and Mike McDonald, grandparents Richard J. and Lynette Gahagan, aunt Lianne Gahagan-White and uncle Richard W. Gahagan. She is predeceased by her mother Terry Ann Gahagan.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church (Resurrection Parish) in Batavia on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 9:30 AM, with a gathering of family and friends following the Mass at Batavia Country Club.

Leona Mary Beitz

Leona Mary Beitz, 96 of Batavia passed away peacefully on Friday January 19, 2018, at New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 1, 1921 in Lancaster to the late Leo V. (Barbara A. Laubacher) Knauber. Leona is predeceased by her husband Raymond G. Beitz, daughter Mary Joose, siblings John, Thomas, Veronica, and Sister Mary Leo Knauber O.S.F.

She is survived by her children, Raymond (Ellen) Beitz Jr. of Lisle, NY; Philip (Brenda) Beitz of Mesquite, TX; Norman (Karen) Beitz of Florissant, CO; Sandy Pettit of Johnstown, NY; Thomas Beitz of Attica; Paul (Elaine) Beitz of Attica; son-in-law Robert Joose of Byron; siblings Robert Knauber of Lancaster; Roy (Jean) Knauber of Irving, TX; Sister Grace Knauber O.S.F of Williamsville, NY; Rita Hake of Lancaster; Joan Schmidt of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burail on Saturday February 3, 2018 at Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish, 50 East Ave, Attica, NY 14011. She will be laid to rest at a later date in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Attica.

Anna May Maher

BATAVIA – Anna May Maher, 92, of Batavia and formerly of Pavilion and Oakfield passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018, at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

She was born Anna May Feeney, on May 14, 1925, to the late Martin and Agnes (Gallagher) Feeney in Mottville, in the town of Skaneateles, NY.  It was an area that remained near and dear to her heart for her entire life.  She often recounted the many summers spent as a youth with her beloved family on Skaneateles Lake. 

A homemaker, she spent her adult life devoted to her family and home. Anna loved animals and all of nature.  In earlier years, she loved to garden with her husband.  She will be remembered for her cheerful smile, her loving kindness, and her ability to see the beauty in all of God’s creation.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Maher, who died in 2005.  She is also preceded by her brothers, James, William, Vernon, & Donald, and by her daughter-in-law Gina Maher.

Surviving are her two children:  Martin Maher of Oakfield, and Noreen (David) Tillotson of Pavilion.  Also surviving are her grandchildren: Nicholas Maher, Megan (Jesse) DeNardin, Matthew (Anmarie) Maher, Jonathan (Callin) Tillotson; great-grandchildren Emma, Erin, and Jonathan Tillotson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the dedicated staff of the second floor at the United Memorial Medical Center for the excellent care and compassion shown to Anna and her family while she was in their care.

Dr. Faith Ellen Francis

St. Louis, Missouri - Dr. Faith Ellen Francis was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Dr. Francis was born in Batavia, the daughter of the late Charles Lee Francis and Julia Maloney Francis.

Dr. Francis graduated with a BA in Chemistry from D'Youville College and a PhD in Biochemistry from St. Louis University. She was a faculty member at St. Louis University of Medicine for 38 years.

She is survived by cousins.

There are no prior visiting hours. Her Memorial Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 9740 Sappington Road, St. Louis. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Father Bernard T. Elcy L. Altoft

Elcy L. Altoft, age 94, of Perry, NY, passed away on Friday January 19, 2018 at Eastside Nursing home in Warsaw where she was residing. Elcy was born in Hornell, NY on March 9, 1923 a daughter to the late George Wesley and Marion Elcy (Swain) Luce. She is preceded in death by her husband: Robert who passed away in 1987, brother Horace Luce, son-in-law: David Noniewicz, great grandson: Lucas Dillon, sister-in-law: Margaret Luce

Mrs. Altoft was a graduate of Perry High School. She was a homemaker who worked during World War II giving out ration stamps, she worked at the former Robeson Cutlery, was a clerk at the former Perry Center Grocery store for 12 years and 10 years at the former Archway Cookies, was involved in a CO-OP in Wyoming for many years and helped cater many events throughout the years. She was a 75 year member at the LaGrange Baptist church, where she was involved in the Ladies Missionary group, her late husband and her were custodians at the church for many years. A 80 year member of the Grange, where she was past master at the local level, Master at the Pomona Grange and enjoyed attending many State Grange conventions, a member of the Wyoming County Home Bureau, Wyoming Historical Pioneer Association, Covington Historical Association and the Wyoming County Fair Association. Former President of the Perry Senior Citizens Group, and former secretary for the LaGrange Cemetery Association.She enjoyed crocheting afghans and rugs for her family and made numerous blankets and hats for premature babies at Strong Memorial Hospital through the Ladies Missionary group at the church. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, traveling, camping and watching NASCAR races.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Judy (Siegfried) Thewke , Gloria Altoft, Mary Jane (Richard) Halstead all of Perry, 2 sons: James (Kyle Wixson) Altoft of Zephyrhills, Fl. William (Jill) Altoft of Pittsburgh, Pa., 16 grandchildren: Erik Thewke, Heidi (Dennis) Shields, Bradford Altoft, Greta (Jason) Barnett, Nathan (Nikki) Noniewicz, David Noniewicz, Sean Lafferty, Rachel Lafferty, Adam (Vanessa) Halstead, Thomas Halstead, Valerie (Jeffrey) Dillon, Jacob (Elizabeth) Altoft, Andrew Altoft, Christopher (Emily) Kirkham, Patrick (Andrea) Kirkham, Scott (Amy) Kirkham, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law: Loralyn (Robert) Yunker of Perry, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert J. Burns

Robert J. Burns, age 93, of Castile passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. Robert was born in Warsaw, NY on May 13, 1924 a son of the late John W. (Lydia L. Kohler) Burns.He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth who passed away August 10, 2017, siblings: Harold, Ellsworth, Arthur and Mildred Burns and Marian Lane and a son-in-law: Donald Tepley.

He was a graduate of Warsaw High School. Robert worked for various businesses in the area starting out as a crop and dairy farmer in Warsaw, (GLF) the former Agway Petroleum in Perry, owned and operated Burns Petroleum in Perry from the late 1950’s until 1975, Griffith Oil, Kittinger Furniture in Castile, caretaker for Grace Cemetery in Castile and retired from the Village of Castile. He was a former Chairman for the Town of Castile Planning Board. He enjoyed cutting wood, woodworking, reading and hunting.

He is survived by 2 sons: Alan G. (Kathy) Burns, Eddy R. (Joyce) Burns both of Castile, 2 daughters: Linda L. Tepley of Ft. Collins, CO., Sandra F. Mandzuk of Barton, NY, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.

June E. Wass

Byron - June E. Wass, 78, of Byron, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Batavia Health Care Center, LLC.

June was born November 19, 1939 in Rochester, a daughter of the late George and Ruth (Bissell) Schoeps.

She was a farmer at Wass Farms in Spencerport and will be remembered as a great person.

Survivors include her children, John Wass, Jr. of Barre, Susan (Robert) Butler of Byron, Robert Wass of Byron and Catherine MacIntire of Florida; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  

June is the wife of the late John Wass.

There are no prior calling hours and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  June will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamlin.

HOWARD A. "HOWIE" LANG

HOWARD A. "HOWIE" LANG ~ Henrietta 

Age 50, formerly of Corfu, went home to the Lord peacefully Thursday January 18, 2018 at Highland Hospital in Rochester with his loved ones by his side. He was born March 14, 1967 in Batavia, NY a son of the late, Jerome Lang, Sr. and Nancy (William) Sage, also preceded in death by his sister, Daryl Lang-Cofran.                                                                                                                                           

Howard was a 1985 graduate of Pembroke High School and attended Valley Forge Christian College where he went on to be an ordained Youth Minister. He suffered a traumatic brain injury some 30 years ago that left him with many challenges throughout his life, but with his love of the Lord and his family he faced all with dignity. Howie was a "talker" on many subjects and to anyone who would listen, he had a love for children, football, movies, trips to Wal-Mart and loved his four-legged companion, "Fuzz Beast", his cat, Ashley. 

He is survived by sister, Rhonda Lang of Akron; brother, Jerome (Jan) Lang of East Aurora; twin-sister, Brenda (Richard) Lavrincik of Attica; aunts, uncles, nieces/nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins; awesome personal physician, Dr. Lineman; services coordinator and personal friend, Bobby (Love) Lasher.

William S. Pratt

Chili /Batavia - William Sidney Pratt, age 75, died peacefully in his sleep on January 21, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital, after a brief struggle with cancer.  Bill was born November 4, 1942 in Batavia, NY, the son of the late William E. and Mary I. Lambert Pratt.  

Bill had an outgoing and generous personality, always putting others first and finding ways to help friends and family.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many days at Godfrey's Pond or sitting in a deer stand, later in life more likely to report on the deer he watched beneath his feet rather than shooting at them.  Bill had no greater love than his wife Elaine, who he cared for faithfully in the last decade in her illness. 

Bill graduated from Notre Dame High School before serving in the Navy for four years aboard the USS Witek.  The fondest memories of Bill and Elaine were the years in Newport, RI.  It was a memorable return to Batavia in a 57 Chevy, with a hole in the floorboard and unable to go above 40 mph towing the trailer behind.  He worked for Gram Corporation in Batavia his entire career.  Following his retirement, he found enjoyment in working at the Chili Country Club.

Bill was a dog lover, walking his dog Heidi through the streets of Chili, allowing plenty of time to stop and chat with neighbors.  Bill was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees, and was glad to see both make the postseason. 

Bill was predeceased by his wife Elaine R. Boyle Pratt whom he married on November 23, 1963 and lost on October 2, 2017, his son Timothy and Sister Margaret Wescott.  He is survived by his grandson, Billy (Ashlee) Pratt of San Angelo, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey Pratt and Jacob Pratt, both of TX; 3 sisters Marilyn Orlando, Jean Barnard and Mary Joan (George) Davis all of Batavia and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 3 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church followed by a reception to celebrate his life at Rohrbach's Brewpub. Interment will be held at 10 am on Friday at Grand View Cemetery, Clinton Street in Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in his name to Trinity Lutheran Church 191 Nichols Street, Spencerport, NY 14559.  Arrangements were completed by H.E. Kip Thomas Knox

Kip Thomas Knox, 72 of Pavilion, passed away peacefully on Thursday (January 18, 2018) at United Memorial Medical Center. 

He was born April 26, 1945 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Thomas and Frances LeShander Knox. 

Kip was the owner of the former Brooks Funeral Home which was located in Pavilion. He also was a stone carver for Derrick Monument Co. in LeRoy for a several years. Kip enjoyed reading, history and nature.

Survivors include a brother, Jud (Laurie) Knox of York, Maine and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Todd Knox.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Regina M. Slivinski

Regina M. Slivinski, 78, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Friday January 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 4, 1939 in Batavia to the late Getman (Marlene Best) Wolff. Regina is predeceased by her husband Stanley Slivinski Jr.

Mrs. Slivinski worked for many years at Ebling’s Laundry. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Batavia. Regina enjoyed sewing, gardening, landscaping and playing golf. She was an excellent baker and made some of the best cookies around. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor House and New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia for the exceptional care they gave her for the past two years.

She is survived by her brother Richard (Linda) Wolff; brother-in-law Brian (Gail) Slivinski; nephews Mark Wolff, Gregg (Tina) Wolff and Scott (Debra) Wolff; close friend Vic Jensen all of Batavia, along with several great-nieces and nephews.

William L. Radley

Stafford ~ William L. Radley, age 84, of Transit Road, passed away Tuesday afternoon (January 16, 2018) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

    

He was born March 7, 1933 in Stafford, a son of the late Fredrick and Margaret Nearpass Radley.

     Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed camping with his family.  He  was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking, but his true passion was firefighting.  He was a devoted firefighter for over 50 years with the Stafford Fire Department, where he served in various positions, including fire chief.  He will be sorely missed by his brother and sister firefighters and his community.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Beatrice Cripps Radley; his children, William Radley Jr. of Leicester, Gerald Radley of Imperial Beach, CA, Carl Radley and Karen Bombara, both of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Jaye Lynn Bombara, Elizabeth Radley, Maxwell Radley and William Radley; his brothers, Charles (Loretta) Radley of Sebring, FL and Francis Radley of E. Bethany, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his sister in law, Ann Radley and a nephew, Greg Radley.

Kevin D. "Cuso" Mancuso

Caledonia ~ Kevin D. "Cuso" Mancuso, age 56, of Spring Street, passed away at home on Sunday, January 14, 2018.

    He was born October 27, 1961 in Batavia, a son of the late Donald and Elizabeth Blood Mancuso.

     Kevin will be remembered as a very kind and loving gentleman, who had an enormous circle of family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all.  He worked at Allen-Bailey Tag for 26 1/2 years.  He enjoyed playing golf, euchre, bocce ball and bowling and watching his Buffalo teams, the Bills and the Sabres.

     He is survived by his son, Kevin D. Mancuso Jr. of CA, step-daughter, Kati Mancuso of Rochester; his siblings, Kathleen (Duncan) Mackenzie of LeRoy, Donna (Will) Potter of Springville, David (Deborah) Mancuso of Pavilion, James (Patricia) Mancuso of Chili and Nancy (Kevin) Mullen of LeRoy; his step-grandchildren, Jaylee, Kayden, Lindyn and Makary;  along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friends.

Batavia - David F. Brewer, age 79, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mr. Brewer was born June 18, 1938 in Batavia

, the son of the late G. Francis and Mildred (Roll) Brewer.

He was a retired employee of the Batavia VAMC and formerly worked at Trojan Industries and served with the US Army from 1963 to 1965.  

David was an active member of Resurrection Parish where he served as an assistant for many funeral masses, was an Eucharist minister, delivered Communion to many home bound parishioners and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Carnival.  He also belonged to the K of C., Msgr. Kirby Council and volunteered at Crossroads.  He was “A friend of Bill W.” for over 17 years where he was affectionately known as Old Dave.                

Survivors include his sister;  Marilyn Brewer, RSM of Buffalo;  Barbara Brown, his  companion for over 40 years; step-son Ronald (Christine) Brown of Bergen and several cousins.  He was “Papa” to Megan and Sydney Brown and Levi Grimm.  He was the brother of the late Robert C. Brewer.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.  at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 E. Main St. Batavia. Prayers will be Monday  at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed  be at his Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00p.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Church, 303 E.
