Jennie Wiktorski, 101 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Thursday (March 15, 2018) at the Batavia Heath Care Center.

She was born June 25, 1916 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline Bugansky Adamczyk.

Jennie and her late husband operated the family farm in Darien and was also employed by Chapins and Kisiel Die Casting prior to her retirement. She was a parishioner of Ascension Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was the wife of the late Ignatius Wiktorski, who died in 1986 and sister of the late Henry Adamczyk,  Stanley Adamczyk, Helen Luplow and four siblings from Poland, Frank, John, Stefa, and Sofia . Mother in-law of the late Barbara Wiktorski and Frank Ball.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald Wiktorski of Batavia and Daniel Wiktorski of Texas. Daughter, Marcia (Rick) Leaton of Florida. Sister, Eleanor Bialkowski of Batavia.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia.  Jennie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:00am at Ascension Parish (S. Swan St.). Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The Ascension Parish Rosary Society will recite the rosary on Tuesday, 1:30pm at the funeral home.

Thomas John "Tommy” Manzella, age 24, of Batavia, NY passed away at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia surrounded by his family. He was born in Newfane, NY on March 8, 1994 to Vincent (Lori) Manzella of Batavia and Julie (Keith) Kuzara of Akron, and was preceded in death by his grandfather John Manzella; uncle Ed Blackford.

Tommy graduated from Oakfield-Alabama High School in 2012 and is a 2016 graduate of SUNY Cortland where he majored in fitness & development, and enjoyed spending time in the gym. He was currently working at the United States Gypsum in Oakfield, NY. He enjoyed playing video games, playing with his dog Rocco, spending time with his girlfriend Kiana, best friend Little Chris Manes, and numerous family and friends.

Surviving along with his parents are his girlfriend (Kiana), his three brothers: Andrew of Newfane, NY, Chase (Brianna) of Yuma, Arizona, and Pauly of Batavia, NY; half-brother Dustin; grandmother Joanie Penvose of Middleport, NY; grandparents Robert and Germaine Osborne of Fuquay-Varina, NC; aunt Janet Blackford (Dean) of Adams, NY ; uncle Frank (Libby) Manzella of Clearance, NY; uncle Tony (Diane) of Hamlin, NY; uncle Robert (Cheryl) Osborne of Holly Springs, NC; aunt Maria (Nate) Henson of Fuquay-Varina, NC; uncle Joseph Osborne of Buffalo, NY; and many cousins and friends that loved him dearly. Additionally, he was very close with the Manes Family of Oakfield, NY.

Mrs. Kathleen Ann Parker, age 74, of Batavia, NY and more recently of Smyrna, GA passed away surrounded by her loved ones, Sunday March 11, 2018.  Kathy was born October 1, 1943 in Batavia, NY to the late Herman and Frances Gabriel. 

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, baking cookies and watching her grandchildren.

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Raymond “Bink” Parker; sisters Irene Bradway Busch and Beatrice Heinman.  She is survived by her daughter Candie and husband Sal Della Penna (Batavia, NY) and her son Daniel and wife Saralee Parker (Smyrna, GA) and their two children Garrett and Haley. Kathy is also survived by her brother in law, Tim Jones, and sister in law Pam Booth and many nieces and nephews.

  Susan M. Wesp, 60, a longtime resident of Attica, Cowlesville and Varysburg went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2018 at her home. She was born in Buffalo on January 12, 1958 to the late Willis and Alice (Kruszynski) Wesp.

Sue was retired from Erie County and had a devoted respect for nature and animals, caring for them with a loving heart.

She is survived by a brother, sister, a niece and three nephews.

Lillian “Peggy” Woods King, age 77, of Batavia entered into eternal rest on Tuesday March 13, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 8, 1940 in West Chester, PA to Herbert T. Woods and Lottie E. Walton Woods. She was preceded in death by her siblings, James, Daniel, Jenny, John “Jack”, Charles “Marty”, Sam and Leroy “Punkin”.

She loved fishing, going for long rides in the country, spending time with her family and going on trips to PA to see her hometown. She loved the holidays and always had the best door decorations at her apartment complex. She was known for making the best stuffing around and for always being super early for everything. She loved her family more than anything and she enjoyed spending time with all of them. She welcomed everyone into her home and considered them her children. She will be greatly missed and her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore (Teddy), sons Robert (Cindy) Bucci, William (Shelly) Bucci, Charles (Nicole) Bucci and daughters Sandra (Dewey) Knapp, Bonnie (Phil) Privitera, Peggy (Herbert) Scroger, Deanna Bucci, stepchildren, Donna King, Katie (David) Kinney, Theodore (Lynette) King and 28 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Myrtle Murtagh, 82, of Batavia passed away peacefully on March 11, 2018 at Crossroads House in Batavia. She was born on December 25, 1935 in Langol, OH to the late Frank and Beile (Bowling) Hacker. In addition to her parents, Myrtle is predeceased by her daughter Karen E. Biegas; brothers Earl and Walter Bowling, Virgil and Vernon Hacker; sister Geneva Snyder.

Myrtle was an avid bowler, loved doing crafts and most of all spending time with her grandchildren camping. She was a long time employee at Delco in Rochester.

She is survived by her sons; Michael (Dee DiPasquale) Murtagh of Rochester and Thomas Murtagh of Batavia; sisters Anna Lee (Ray) Curtis and Mary Wells; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Wyoming - Kennedy Rose McCullough, infant daughter of Ashley Bates and Richard McCullough of Wyoming passed away at birth on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo.

Surviving along with her parents are her grandparents; Audra Bates of Byron, Dean Bates of LeRoy and Patricia (Tom) Williams of Byron; her great-grandfather; David Oderkirk of Stafford; aunts and uncles; Andrew Williams, Lauren Williams, Dylan Bates and Kerri Bates, all of Byron. Kennedy is also survived by great-aunts and great-uncles.

Robert M. Irvine III, 32 of Perry, passed away on Wednesday March 7, 2018. He was born in Warsaw on November 26, 1985 to the late Audrey (Long) Irvine and Robert M. (Stacy) Irvine Jr. of Rushford.

Robert was currently working as a mechanic at Edward Arnold Scrap Processors Inc. in Corfu, NY. He enjoyed fishing, racing dirt bikes, doing mechanic work on the side and spending time at Paul’s Cycle Shop.

He is survived by wife Kari J. (Herbert) Irvine of Warsaw; daughter Brooklyn Herbert of Warsaw; sisters Kimberly (Curtis) Schroth of Pavilion; Cassandra Irvine of Albion; aunt Carol (Carl) Weber of Perry; uncle David (James Lockner) Long of Crystal River, FL; girlfriend Christina King of Perry; very close friends Frank Lohmer and Bill Peete; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

PHILIP L. COMPTON ~ Varysburg 

Age 72, of Varysburg, NY died Wednesday March 7, 2018 at his home while under the care of Hospice and his loving family. He was born March 16, 1945 in Batavia, NY a son of the late Cecil and Alice (Ross) Compton also preceded in death recently by his brother, Richard Compton and daughter, Jean "Pat" Russell. 

Philip was a machinist by trade and worked  at Moog, Inc. in East Aurora along with being a member of the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church in Warsaw.  He was an outdoorsman through and through, an avid hunter he enjoyed horses and riding them. Phil's center was he family, his love of his wife, sons and grandchildren. 

Surviving is his beloved wife of 52 years, Grace (Holley) Compton of Varysburg; his loving sons, William (Sherry) Compton of Varysburg and Dave (Heidi) Compton of Attica; grandchildren, Earl, Samantha (Mike Love), Clayton, Cody, Lance, Jada, Mason, Tara & Philip; great-grandchildren, Jemma, Jaxon, Trenton and Andrea; brother, James (Sandra) Compton of E. Bethany; sister, Carol (Wayne) Speed of Oakfield; his "best bud" & "hunting partner", Jerry Gee along with several nieces and nephews.

  Ilah Jane Kilian, 95, of Wisconsin, formerly of Cowlesville, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 in Menomonee Falls, WI. She was born on July 29, 1922 in Tonawanda to the late Reverend Robert A. Noble and Hattie (Redtmann) Noble. In addition to her parents, Ilah is predeceased by her husband; William E. Kilian and sister Edna Phelps.

Mrs. Kilian was a piano teacher, church organist, church secretary and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. She loved tatting, crocheting, sewing, quilt making and gardening.

She is survived by her brother, Dr. Robert Noble of Dallas, TX.; children Roger (Carol) Kilian of New Hope, MN., Ronald (Susan) Kilian of Portage, MI., Ross (Donna) Kilian of Polk, PA., Eileen (Charles) Russell of Cherry Hill, NJ., Rodney (Cyndi) Kilian of Menomonee Falls, WI., and Marilyn (Jon) Rust of Samora Correia, Portugal; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

John T. O’Brien, 86, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Sunday March 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born on November 3, 1931 in Batavia to the late Leo (Dolores Kenney) O’Brien. John is predeceased by his sisters Rose Mary (Robert) Crossen; Kathleen (Robert) Maher; brother-in-law Murray Morrow.

John T. O’Brien Army Veteran, avid hunter, owner/founder of Kleen-All Company, community advocate, life-long member of St. Joseph’s Parish, and longtime supporter of wetlands conservation.

Mr. O’Brien was a veteran of the United States Army & served during the Korean Conflict and left the service with the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon returning home in 1953, he launched the Kleen-All Company which thrived in our community for over 65 years. The business started with two employees and grew to over 20. His young son Gregory started emptying trash cans at only 9 and continues to play a major role in the company today.

He was instrumental, along with Murray Morrow & the people of Kiwanis Club, in creating the Kiwanis Park. He served as Chairman of the Planning Board for the Town of Batavia for over 20 years and was very involved during the growth and development of the west end of town.

One of his greatest passions in life was his work for Duck’s Unlimited. He became a DU volunteer in 1970 and started the Batavia Committee in 1973. From 1977 to 1984 he served as DU’s NYS Chairman and NYS Council Chairman. He also served nationally as the groups regional Vice President, Director at Large, & Senior Vice President of DU’s Nine State North Atlantic Flyway. Over the years he started over 44 Chapters of Duck’s Unlimited in the State of New York. In 1989 he was given an invitation to attend the DU Waterfowl Symposium where President George H. Bush was the keynote speaker. In 2003 Duck’s Unlimited dedicated 2000 acres of the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge in John T. O’Brien’s honor.

John T. O’Brien was a generous man who had a vision and passion for life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He survived by his beloved wife Betty (Hawkins) O’Brien, son Gregory (Karen) O’Brien, sister Donna Morrow all of Batavia; three grandchildren, Steven, Alex and Zachary O’Brien, along with many nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Otha L. Johnson, 60, of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.

Otha was born October 21, 1957 in Downsville, GA, a son of the late Ethel Johnson and was raised by the late Liza Gandy.

Otha was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and was the caretaker of the church since he was 16 years old.  He loved watching Westerns and the Buffalo Bills.  Otha will be remembered as a family man who was a great cook, mechanic and hard worker and enjoyed working out and fishing. He was a detailer at the former Mike Ognibene Ford in Batavia.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Saddler) Johnson of Batavia; his children, Lameschia (Chris McClinic) Johnson of Alexander, Oleshia (Charlie Smith) Johnson of Batavia, Otha Lee (Janella) Johnson Jr. of Maryland and Yolanda (Timothy Lee) Johnson of LeRoy; his grandchildren, Christopher, Jaliyah, Camareon, Jshon, Tahlia, Miakoda, Makayla, Kiajia, Omar'eon and Othon; a great-grandchild, Ava; brothers, Oraid, Perry and Johnny; sisters, Gwenette, Valencia and Vanessa and several nieces and nephews.

Otha is a brother of the late Mary and Terry.

VINCENT R. MISITI, SR. ~ Batavia 

Age 82, of Batavia, NY died unexpectedly on Monday evening March 5, 2018 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing & Rehab. He was born September 16, 1935 in Batavia, NY a son of the late Guiseppi S. and Maria Rosa (D'Agostino) Misiti also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kortney Rae Falkowski; brother, Vito Misiti and sisters, Frances Rapone and Carmella Humphrey.                                                                                        

Mr. Misiti was raised in LeRoy, NY until settling in Batavia with the love of his life where they raised their family and he ran his business. For almost 40 years he owned and operated his laundry /dry cleaning delivery service out of Batavia Tailors & Cleaners. He along with dear friend, Vinny Gauteri were founding members of the "Breakfast Club", a longtime member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's) and a member of the former St. Nicholas Club. Vin and his wife enjoyed many years of retirement in Florida and he was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Vinny was proud of his Italian heritage and his family and most enjoyed his grandchildren, their sporting events and most recently his great-grandchildren. 

Surviving is his beloved wife he shared 61 years of marriage with, Angeline (Scafetta) Misiti of Batavia; his loving children, Stacey (Hank) Falkowski of Batavia and Vincent R. (Margie) Misiti, Jr. of Batavia; his cherished grandchildren, Alexandria, Vincent R. III, Paige Marie and Spencer Dominic Misiti, Whitney Rose (Dan) D'Amico and Kaley Rae Falkowski; great-grandchildren, Maxwell Henry and Leo James D'Amico, & Hazel Alexandria Frisoli; brother, Sam (Maureen) Misiti of LeRoy; sister, Rose Haskin of LeRoy; sister-in-law, Louise Misiti of Medina along with many nieces and nephews.

Batavia - Lucy M. Voltura, age 98, retired receptionist and office manager for Dr. Koester and Dr. Ahmed passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Batavia.

Miss Voltura was born October 25, 1919 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Donato and Rose (Teresa) Voltura.

Lucy, at the time of her death was the oldest living member of St. Jerome Hospital Guild having been a member for over 50 years.  She held the office of Treasurer, board member and managed the Guild’s lottery program.  She also was on the board of AARC joining their fight of childhood cancer and was a lifelong volunteer for the St. Jerome Gift Shop.

One of Lucy’s biggest joys was being with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed all sports and in particular an avid fan of the Yankees and Notre Dame.

Surviving are two nephews, Daniel (Mary Ellen) Voltura of Batavia and Paul Voltura of California and a niece, Lucille (Charles) Hamilton of Tampa, Florida.  Several great and great great nieces and nephews as well cousins survive.

March 6, 2018, age 78, of Darien, NY. Beloved husband and loving companion of Joan Heitz Osborn;  dearest father of Robert (Gloria) Osborn, Ann (Ron) Cervone, Jean Osborn, Cheryl (Scott) Todd, Joan (Coy) Martin, Ronald (Eileen) Osborn; loving grandfather of Jennifer (Mark) Kronthaler, Robert Osborn, William Osborn, Elizabeth Osborn, Brittany (Matthew) Coffta, Keith (Allyson) Wilkinson, Caitlin (Derek) Bird, Austin Wilkinson, Carrie (Garry) Hoggan, Craig Wilkinson, Carly Wilkinson, Jackson Todd,  Madison Martin, Grace Martin, Wyatt Osborn, Eva Osborn and ten great-grandchildren.  Brother of Patricia (Osborn) Herrington and the late Dave Herrington.
Founder of Spring Creek Construction Co., Lineman at New York State Electric and Gas (1958-1990),   Member of the Corfu Presbyterian Church, Darien Center town councilman, avid hunter and fisherman.  His passion for farming, nature, family and hard work will be what is remembered most.
