Daniel D. Klein

Daniel D. Klein, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 20, 2023, aged 73. He was born on January 27, 1950, in Buffalo, NY to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Valentine) Klein and spent his life touching the hearts of those around him with his infectious spirit and love for life.
Daniel was a familiar face at Our Lady of Peace Church, where he regularly dedicated his time as an usher. His commitment to serve was only matched by his love for his community, proudly serving as a member of the Clarence Jaycees. A 1968 graduate of Clarence High School, he owned and operated Danbar Apartments for 45 years and  spent his career in the building trades as a Maintenance Person, forging lifelong friendships and leaving an indelible mark. His jovial nature and love for conversing with friends and strangers alike often found him in the heart of bustling coffee shops, a testament to his love for people and the community he called home.

Daniel is survived by his loving children, Carrie Ohlson, David Klein, and Katherine (Todd) Pfeiffer; his cherished grandchildren, Alexander and Makayla Schweigert, Gregory (Deanna) Rosenberg, Sara (Donald) George III; three treasured great-grandchildren; and his beloved siblings, Diane (David) Stackhouse and Jane (late Michael) Riggs. He is also survived by his longtime "adopted" son, Jonathan Lippert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Barbara Klein. Daniel's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were privileged to have known him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Ross Funeral Home of Akron located at 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, New York, 14001. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 10950 Main Street, Clarence, New York, 14031.

Joyce E. Cook

Basom - Joyce E. Cook, lifelong resident of Basom, passed away on Wednesday, (September 20, 2023) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia just 3-days after her 98th birthday.

Miss Cook was born September 17, 1925 in Batavia, New York a daughter of the late Glen and Lulu (Scarborough) Cook.

She was a registered nurse at the Batavia VA Medical Center; a family care taker, artist, gardener, and baker. She was the best aunt anyone could ask for.

Surviving are her nephews, Olin B. Campbell, Jr (Jeanette), John R. Campbell (Karen); her niece, Joyce Anzalone (Rick); great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by Elma Cook Campbell and Bertha Mills.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Joyce will be laid to rest in Reed Cemetery in Oakfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joyce's honor to the veterans' organization of the donor's choice.

Charles H. Snell Sr.

Charles H. Snell Sr. LeRoy- On September 20, 2023, at age 87. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Katherine Snell. Children Bonnie Schetinin, Charles H. (Angela) Snell Jr. Grandchildren Gregory, Michael, Thomas Schetinin, and Charles J., Allison, and Cameron Snell. Great Grandson Aiden Schetinin.

Charlie worked in Construction and was a Master Mechanic Local 832, Rochester, NY. He spent many winters in Florida Trap shooting and was a Life Member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA).

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Carmen Cintorino

Carmen Cintorino, 101 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Thursday (September 21, 2023) at United Memorial Medical Center.

She was born April 24, 1922 in LeRoy, NY, a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Andalora Baglio.

She was formerly employed by the Batavia Daily News. She was a loving person who loved her family and enjoyed singing and dancing. Carmen cherished the times she was able to watch her great-grandchildren perform dance routines. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her son, John Cintorino of Byron. Grandchildren, Melissa (Kurt) Wegener of Florida and Michael (Suzanne) Cintorino of Byron. Great-grandchildren, Alan Wegener, Colton Wegener, Adrianna Brandt, Kayla Wegener, Aerianna Cintorino, Jaxon Cintorino and Evan Cintorino.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph S. Cintorino. Daughter in-law, Diane Cintorino. Brother, Frank Baglio. Sisters, Jenny Paladino, Josephine Maida, Sarah Forti, Rose Wallace, Mary Perry and Marian Ricci.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are cordially invited to her Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday (Sept. 26th), 10:00am at Resurrection Parish, 303 E. Main St., Batavia. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

David Delson

Batavia - David Delson, age 77, of Batavia passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, New York.

David was born Saturday, October 13th, 1945 in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Anthony Delson and Mary (Capella) Delson. 

He enjoyed watching football, horse racing, Jeopardy, the Cleveland Browns, bowling and baseball.  David was a respectful man that was always willing to lend a hand when needed. He loved his family greatly, especially his son John.

David proudly served our country in the US ARMY and later met the love of his life, Frances Stewart, together they had a wonderful son. They worked together at US Chrome until David's retirement.

David will be remembered by the love of his life, Frances Stewart; his son, John (Alisha Soule) Delson; his kids whose life he touched, Ray Morgan, Gwen Morgan, Nancy (Philip) Raymond, Natalie (Kevin) Urbanski, and anyone who has had the honor of meeting him.

In death David is reunited with his parents, Anthony and Mary Delson; siblings, Anthony (Florence) Delson, Lucy (Edward) Dombrowski, and Frances "Babe" Gentile.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, Batavia. Services will be private at the discretion of the family.

Mr. Robert A. Bobzin

Holley – Robert A. Bobzin, age 80, of Holley, formerly of Bergen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Bobzin was born Sunday, April 18th, 1943 in New York City, a son of the late Robert J. Bobzin and Margaret Baricevich Bobzin.

He proudly served his country from 1964-1967 with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from Eastman Kodak in Rochester where he worked as a firefighter. A longtime active member and former chief of the Bergen Fire Department, he served on their board of directors and was a member of Post No. 575 Merrill-Sackett-White American Legion in Bergen. He traveled extensively with his wife Beverly to Alaska, Hawaii, Aruba, Antigua, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and bus trips to Branson, Missouri. Bob also went on numerous Patriot Trips to Washington, D.C. with Assemblyman Stephen Hawley.  

Surviving are his wife Beverly A. Sage Bobzin; his children, Kevin (Kathy) Parker of South Carolina, Brian (Heather) Parker of Florida and Kim (Thomas) Murphy of Amherst; four granddaughters, Briana Parker, Britnee Parker, Kayleigh Parker and Samantha Wingate; brothers, Vincent (Theresa) Bobzin and William (Barb) Bobzin; his sister, Vivian Hare along with nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 25th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Avenue, Bergen. Graveside services with military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at the Western New York National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu. Tammy Lynn DeSalvo

Tammy Lynn DeSalvo, 53, of Batavia, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 14th, 2023. Tammy was brought into this world on March 24th, 1970 by the late Viola DeSalvo and Thomas DeSalvo. Tammy is preceded in death by both parents, brother Kim “Kimbo” Wolcott, brother John “Butch” Wolcott, nephew Andrew Wolcott, great nephew Shawn Wolcott Jr., long time daughter and companion, Cupcake, and several other family and friends. 

Tammy is survived by her children, Crow Cicatello (Alex Berry), Leah Cargill (Paul Carr), brother Thomas (Pattie) DeSalvo, sister Mildred “Milky” Wolcott, nephew Cristian DeSalvo, Niece Danielle DeSalvo (Daniel Machovoe), nephew Thomas DeSalvo, niece Pamela (Veshaun Jr.) Thomas, nephew Thomas (Sarah) Sauka, nephew John (Thet) Wolcott, niece Cassandra (Michael) Kinne, nephew Anthony (Katie) Wolcott, and several other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she loved very much. 

Tammy was a beautiful person and the life of the party; she had a laugh that was contagious and could get anyone going. Tammy was the embodiment of rock ‘n’ roll; leather, high heeled boots, and all. She loved concerts and was an avid Matchbox Twenty, Chris Cornell, Kid Rock and Lumineers fan. During the spring and summertime she loved to garden and always had the most beautiful yard on the block. She loved making bouquets out of the flowers that she grew. Tammy was a talented poet, writer, and a skilled crafter. She was a natural home-maker and decorated beautifully for the every holiday; always bringing a certain magic to every special occasion. Tammy was an excellent cook and baker and never let a guest leave hungry. She loved planning and throwing birthday parties for her loved ones and always made special occasions feel truly special.

Adam B. Thomas

Adam B. Thomas, 34, of Batavia passed away on September 16, 2023. He was born March 31, 1989 to Carmen L. (Martinez) Thomas of Batavia, and the late Bart A. Thomas. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Luis Martinez, grandparents, William F. Thomas and Anna L. (Duncan) Thomas. 

Adam enjoyed music, dancing and bowling. He loved to write lyrics for rap and did freestyle rapping. He loved to be around his family and was very loving. Adam would give you the shirt off his back. He worked at local places, loved to entertain others and had a very special closeness to his father and God. 

He is survived by his beloved mother, Carmen Thomas; siblings, William L. Thomas of Batavia, Bart A. (Kathleen) Thomas, Jr. of Buffalo, Shamarr A. (DJ) Mamula of Hueneme, CA, ; six nieces and nephews, Peyton, Patrick, Bart III “Trey”, Lily and Nathanial; grandmother, Carmen M. Martinez; aunts and uncles, Anita E. Barbara J. VanLoan, 73 of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Rochester General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 7, 1950 in Murray, NY to the late Charles and Lucy Isabel (Ruger) Engert. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert VanLoan, siblings, Charles J., Walter J., Ronald J. Engert, Dianne L. Paul and Thomas J. Engert.

Barbara enjoyed anything that had to do with crafts, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She loved spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by her beloved children, Christine (Harold) Ertel of Bergen, Jeffery (Kristen) Lonnen of Wyoming, step-children, Sharon (David) Hartwell, Robert (Tammy) VanLoan, Harry Lonnen Jr, Carrie (Doug) Teeter, siblings, Marilyn (George) Strabel, William J. Engert, in-laws, Katie Engert, Sheron and Jim Paul, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Timothy Lee Futter

Timothy Lee Futter, 62, of Pavilion, (formally of LeRoy) NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Tim was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Martha (Fitzsimmons) Futter and his precious grandson, Emmett Dawkins-Fiorito.

   He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Rachelle (Scott) Futter; his four daughters, Brandy (Matthew) Dunham of Elba, Rebecca (Adam) Shultz of Stafford, Nicole (Erik) Anderson of Darien and Danielle Fiorito (Sara Dawkins) of Seattle; his brother, David (Vicky) Futter of Batavia; grandchildren, Cameron, Liliana, Jonas, Hudson and Easton; his nephews and nieces, Bill, Rich, Jim, Brendan, Bridget, Brett, Brooke, Erica, Emilee and Samantha and many great nephews and nieces. 

     Tim was a 39 year employee of Sabin Metal. He was an avid bowler and NASCAR fan. He was a proud fan of the Buffalo Bills, “Go Bills”.  He also loved detailing his vehicles, they were spotless! 

     Family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11AM ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., 8700 Lake Street Road, LeRoy, NY. Christian Burial will follow at Pavilion Cemetery on RT 63, Pavilion at 2:00 PM.

Charles William Yueckstock

Charles William Yueckstock, 91, a Korean War Navy veteran, died on September 16, 2023 at Crossroads House in Batavia.

He was born January 10, 1932 in Buffalo, the son of the late Clarence F. and Lillian Oakes Yueckstock.

Charles graduated from Nunda Central School in 1950 and joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation.  While in the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Antietam CV 36 which was assigned to the Pacific Fleet and had a tour of duty in the Korean waters during that conflict.

Following an honorable discharge in 1954, he enrolled in the teacher education program at SUNY Geneseo; he received a B.S. in education in 1958.  He attended SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport to earn a certification in elementary education and supervision from the University of the state of New York.

Chuck taught at Alexander Central School in grades 5 and 6 as well as junior high math.  He became the elementary principal at Alexander from 1971 to 1985.  While at Alexander Central, he coached varsity baseball, varsity soccer, junior varsity basketball and junior varsity football.  He left Alexander in 1985 and worked at Pavilion Central School as elementary principal and chairman of the committee for special education.  He retired from Pavilion in 1987.  Chuck served as chairman of Region 12, New York State School Administrators Association.  He also was elected President of the Attica Golf Club on two separate occasions.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Perry Bowling Association from 1981 until 2004, serving as president from 1995 to 1996.  He was voted into the Perry Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1999.  He was a member of the American Legion of Attica and the V.F.W. of Alexander.

He enjoyed his family, golf, bowling, hunting and fishing (especially in Canada on Lake Temagami for 50 years where the family has an island).  In his retirement, he enjoyed several trips to the casino. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Surviving are his children, Charles W. (Linda Salamone) Yueckstock of Darien, Deborah (Michael) Monahan of Rindge, NH and Jody (John) Fanara of Cassadaga; two sisters, Melva (Kenneth) Holley of Portageville and Gloria Regone of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Justin (Kim) Yueckstock, Maecee Monahan, Malina (Justin) Yeager, Gina (Jeremie) Henry, Charles Fanara and Luisa Fanara; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to the family, Chuck is survived by a caretaker and with deep appreciation, Sandy Batog of Attica.

Chuck is the husband of the late Sylvia Ann Young Yueckstock and brother of the late Florence Carney.

Calling hours are Monday (September 25) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where services will be held on Tuesday (September 26) at 10:00 a.m.  He will be laid to rest with military honors in Darien Cemetery.

Bruno Zielinski

BATAVIA- Bruno Zielinski, 98, of Batavia died Sunday (Sept. 17, 2023) at New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.

Mr. Zielinski was born Jan. 31, 1925 in Elba, son of Stanley and Josephine Zielinski.

A World War II Army veteran, he worked at GTE Sylvania for 25 years and then several years at the Batavia water treatment plant. He also had a well-known home business fixing watches and clocks. 

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Dorothy (George); children, Diane Zielinski of Rochester; Robert (Kristine) Zielinski of Charlotte, NC; and Mark (Lynn) Zielinski of Troy; six grandchildren, David (Sara) Zielinski of Greenville, SC; Margaret (Jacques Azzi) Zielinski of New York City; Daniel (Sonia) Zielinski of Singapore; Matthew Zielinski of Caledonia, Laura and Allison Zielinski, both of Charlotte; four great-grandchildren, Eliana, Mabel and Lucas Zielinski and Mika Azzi; his sisters, Jennie Seager of Albion and Martha Tierney of North Tonawanda, along with several nieces and nephews.

He is the father of the late Mary Anne Zielinski and brother of the late Stella Szymanski, Sophie Kingdom, Ann Surman, Julian Zielinski, Helen Klinkbeil, Mary George and Frank Zielinski.

There are no calling hours. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (Sept. 22) at 12 pm at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main St., Batavia. Robert L. Colombo

Robert L. Colombo, 89 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Saturday (September 16, 2023) at United Memorial Medical Center.

He was born May 29, 1934 in Batavia, a son of the late Salvatore and Erla Nichols Colombo.

Bob was employed by Batavia Daily News for over 30 years prior to his retirement. After retirement, Bob was employed by Genesee Auto Supply and Carquest. He enjoyed woodworking and started a business with his sister Nancy called Just Ducky Crafts, traveling to different craft shows. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Mocciaro) Colombo; son, Richard Colombo and sister, Nancy Trendel.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (late Ronald) Speed of Rochester, Janis (Brian) Palmer of Batavia and Joann (John) Baiocco of Batavia. Brother, Paul (Penny) Colombo of Rochester. Brother in-law, Dan Trendel of Batavia. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.

Paul Robert Siebert

Paul Robert Siebert, 77, of Henrietta NY passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2023. He was born on January 20, 1946, a son of the late Elmer and Clarissa Zeis Siebert of East Pembroke, NY.

After graduating from Pembroke High School, Paul attended a drafting school in Chicago and went on to work for Graham Manufacturing Company in Batavia for 46 years. In his twenties, Paul enjoyed drag racing his Shelby and Mach 1 Mustangs at Lancaster Speedway, sponsored by Athoe Motors of Batavia, winning many 1 st place trophies. His motto was “IADUM” – it all depends upon me.

Paul is survived by Joanne, his wife of 26 years, sons Tom (Katherine) Siebert of Illinois and Jeff Siebert of Arizona, grandchildren Elle, Trevor and Luke Siebert of Illinois, siblings Dorothy (Chuck) Kellogg, Marjorie Gilhooly, Jack (Carol) Siebert, Jean Durfee, Diane (Roy) Stringham and many nieces and nephews. Also, the mother of his children, Sharon of Arizona.

David Mobley Stinson Conable Schmieder

David Mobley Stinson Conable Schmieder, 29, died on September 13, 2023 in his apartment in Rochester. 

David was a loving young man who was loved by 3 families and many friends, but he lost his struggle with mental illness and substance abuse. David was the son of Kim Reddix Mobley, and brother of Bobby Lee Mobley, and the twins Jovana C. Mobley and Alicia M. Mobley.  He also was raised in the family of the late Ruth G. Stinson, including Regina M. Stinson and Michael C. Stinson, also Aunt Onita Thomas and Aunt Charlotte Thomas, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.  At age 7, David was adopted by Bernard and Jane Schmieder of Bethany, and was the brother of James Schmieder, Mary Schmieder Cato, Tia Schmieder and Katherine Schmieder.

David grew up working on the Schmieder farm, and graduated from Alexander Central School. He went away to college in Hartford Connecticut. David loved football, and excelled at ice hockey with the Ramparts. He loved working out and weight-training. He loved hunting deer in the local woods. He got to travel to Florida and Morocco. He got to fly a small plane one day. He shook John Lewis’ hand on a trip to D.C.  He loved rap music, cool clothes, and his girlfriends.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11:00AM – 12:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, NY, 14020. A 12:00PM Funeral Service will immediately follow at the Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spectrum Human Services, 34 North Main Street, Warsaw New York 14569 or to Huther Doyle at 360 East Avenue, Rochester New York 14604, both agencies that were the most helpful to him.
