Lewis Partridge, Jr.

Batavia - Lewis Partridge, Jr., age 92, of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Partridge was born November 22, 1924 in Caledonia, the son of the late Lewis J. and Clarabelle McVean Partridge.

A longtime member of the Morganville United Church of Christ, he has served as a trustee and moderator of the church and President of the Tandem Class. A member of the Odd Fellows, he served on the Byron-Bergen Central School Board of Education, the board of directors for the Genesee County Cooperative Extension, Dairy Herd Information Association (DHIA), Agway and the former Grange League Federation (G.L.F.), a co-op owned by farmers. He served as the co-chairman of the 1st farm-city week held by the Genesee County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Thornell Partridge, whom he married August 20, 1948; his children, Donald L. (Pat) Partridge, Kevin M. Partridge and Kathryn P. (Jeffrey) Thompson, all of Batavia; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Richard) Glazier of Byron; his sister-in-law, Marian Partridge of Bergen and several nieces and nephews.

He is the brother of the late Richard Partridge.

Friends may call on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Lawrence A. Amato

Lawrence “Larry” A. Amato of Elba passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2016.
He was born June 20, 1926, son of the late Leonard and Josephine (Scinta) Amato. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Betty (Anderson) Amato; siblings, Joseph (Mary) Embroli, Joseph (Louise) Amato, Florence (Samual) VanGalio, Roger Anderson, Dominic Tucci, Stella Kastner, Josephine Amato, Julia Anzalone, Sarah Amato, Mary Rozzeli; a grandson, Jerrold Coughlin Jr.; and a great grandson, Brendenlee Fay.
Survivors include a sister, Marita Tucci of Le Roy; a son, Alan Amato of Batavia; three daughters, Lori (Jerrold) Coughlin Sr. and Cindy Amato of Elba and Judy (John) Shaffer of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Samuel (Mandie) Coughlin, Kenneth (Cynthia) Kline, Tiffany Fay and Serena Osborne; 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Larry was an avid John Wayne fan and a fan of old wartime planes. He enjoyed life and life enjoyed him and it showed.
He retired from Comstock Michigan Fruit in 1988.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at Elba Recreation Hall. Memorials may be made to the family.

Patricia G. Viscuso

Batavia - Patricia G. Viscuso, 76, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, (December 13, 2016) at her home, in Batavia.

Mrs. Viscuso was born June 20, 1940 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Leo and Doris (Hovey) Graham.

She was a member of Resurrection Parish, where she served as an Eucharistic Minister.  Patricia was a Registered Nurse having worked at St. Jerome Hospital and retiring from United Memorial Medical Center.  She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and spending time with her family.

She is the wife of Angelo L. Viscuso of Batavia. The two had 58 wonderful years together.

Surviving along with her husband are her children, Theresa Viscuso, and Mary Margaret (Mark) Mruczek both of Huston, TX, Daniel Viscuso, and Patrick Viscuso both of Batavia, Joan (Norbie) Torres of Rochester; granddaughters, Nicolette Viscuso, Olivia Torres, Rachel, and Renee Mruczek.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and Leo Graham.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.  Patricia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM, Saturday, (December 17, 2016) at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph Site, 303 East Main Street, Batavia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021.  Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Batavia.

James E. Duckworth

Williamsville - James E. Duckworth, 70, passed away Sunday(Dec. 11, 2016) with his family by his side.
 
He was born in Batavia on Oct. 29, 1946, a son of the late Harold and Olive Shafer Duckworth. He was the brother of the late Kenneth Duckworth.
 
Jim was the loving husband of Carol (Freiberg) Duckworth for 49 years; beloved father of son, Kenneth and daughter, Cynthia (Richard) Lucas; cherished grandfather of Dalton, Corey and Madison Lucas and brother of Larry (Mary) Duckworth. Also serving are his aunt, Carol (Frank) Aquino; nephew, Ed Duckworth and several cousins. 
    
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

William E. Lambert

LeRoy ~ William E. Lambert, age 80, of Genesee Street, passed away Monday morning (December 12, 2016) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     He was born December 31, 1935 in Creal Springs, IL, a son of the late Robert and Lura Holmes Lambert.

     William will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. After working in the grocery business for many years, he and his wife, Lois, ventured into the antique business, where they operated the Lone Gable Emporium for 25 years.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois Jennejahn Lambert; his children, William (Amy) Lambert Jr., Laura (T.J.) Richardson of Chili, Steven Lambert of Shortsville, Andrew (Gail) Lambert of Caledonia, David (Janet) Lambert of LeRoy and Julie (Chris) Coleman of LeRoy; his grandchildren, Austin Lambert, Arielle Lambert, Danielle (Mike) VanHouter, Kinley Lambert, Kade Lambert, Abby Lambert, Gwen Lambert, Chrissy (Joshua) Petraitis, Diana (Rob) Felt, Mark Richardson, Lisle Coleman, Stryder Coleman, Ben (Veronica) Kruger and Thomas (Katie) Kruger; 4 great-grandchildren; his sister, Phyllis (James) Rector of Hilton; his brother, Gary Lambert of Lima; his aunt, Vera Lambert of AZ; many in-laws and spouses, along with several nieces and nephews.

Allan J. Totten

Elba - Allan J. Totten, 72, of Elba, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Mr. Totten was born August 10, 1944 in Warsaw, the son of the late Calvin Totten and Pearl Wood Totten.

A graduate of Elba Central School, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Elba and a lifetime member of the Elba Fire Department. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved spending time at Black Lake on his Baja boat. He will be remembered by his family as a jack of all trades that loved being with his grandchildren.

Allan worked for the Town of Elba Highway Department for 30 years, retiring as the highway superintendent. The job of superintendent was very important to him and he took great pride in his dedication to that job. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. Coughlin Totten, whom he married May 20, 1967; his children,  Kimberly (Scott) Sabatino of Garner, North Carolina, Jason (Jamie) Totten and  Jeremy Totten, both of Elba; eight grandchildren, Megan and Spencer Sabatino,  Kallie and Brianna Totten and Tyler, Alexander, MacKenzie and Spencer Totten and several nieces and nephews.

He is the brother of the late Barbara J. Moore.

Darleen A. McComb

Batavia - Darleen A. McComb, 58, of Batavia, passed away on Sunday (December 11, 2016) at her home in Batavia.

Darlene was born September 28, 1958 in Lackawanna, a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Mary A. (Tomasello) McComb.

Darleen attended Batavia Assembly of God in Batavia and also the Social Club, where she enjoyed talking to her friends.  She adored her family and children and loved to watch movies with her daughter, Nina and talk on the phone with her son, Wayne.  Darleen liked watching television as well.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Potter of Batavia; one daughter, Nina Benson of Pavilion; two brothers, Daniel (Peggy) McComb of Batavia and Dennis (Karen) McComb of Oakfield; one sister, Sharon Chase of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.  

Calling hours are Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main St., Batavia.  A Time of Sharing will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday also at the funeral home.

Heather Lynn Perdock

Heather Lynn Perdock, 30, of LeRoy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 4, 2016 at Unity Hospital in Rochester due to complications from her pregnancy. She was born on November 18, 1986 in Batavia to Gerald and Dawn (Eschenlauer) Yarington. She is predeacsed by her step-father Gerald Yarington Sr.

Heather was a stay at home mom who loved her children unconditionally. She loved animals, especially elephants and cows. Heather loved to go camping, being around the fire with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her children; Zachary Fetterly, Victoria Yarington and her baby Gavin R. Perry; mother Dawn Yarington of E. Bethany, father and stepmother Gerald (Tammy) Yarington Jr. of East Aurora; siblings Greg Yarington of Darien, Russell Yarington of Orchard Park, Monica Yarington of Orchard Park and Gerald Yarington III of East Aurora along with several step siblings; uncles Donald (Rita) Eschenlauer of FL., Ronald (Louann) Eschenlauer of Dansville and Robert (Theresa) Eschenlauer of Batavia and her aunt Robin (Walter Hale) Eschenlauer of Oakfield.

Patricia A. Stafford

Patricia A. Stafford, 67, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at the Genesee County Nursing Home.  She was born on June 10, 1949 in Lackawanna, NY to the late Edward and Genevieve (Stelmach) Haas. She is predeceased by her husband Charles M. Stafford and siblings Mary Karcher, Teddy Haas and Ken Skinner.

Patricia was a long time cook at United Memorial Medical Center. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her children; Michelle (Ronald) Sprague of E. Bethany and Kelly Kasper of Oakfield; siblings Karen (Butch) Williams, Rosie (Joe) Swan, Rick Karcher, Eddie (Donna) Haas, Evelyn Haas, Raymond (Carol) Haas, Joanne (Doug) Moore, Judy (Mike) Scroger and Gloria Skinner; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday December 13, 2016 from 4:00-7:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church 3515 Galloway Rd. Batavia, NY 14020.  An 11:00AM Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday the 14th at the Church.

Gerald "Jerry" J. Sojda

  Gerald “Jerry” J. Sojda of Batavia, NY departed this world on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia, NY.  He was 87.  He was born on July 13, 1929 in Alexander, NY to Helen (Golanski) and John Sojda Sr. He attended Alexander Central School.

He is survived by his sons Gerald Sojda Jr. (Mary) of Ashland, MA and Robert Sojda of Batavia, NY; step-daughters Patricia Sutphen (Richard) of Cape Coral, FL, Lisa Colton of Batavia, NY, step-son Larry Colton, and grandchildren Danielle (Ronald) Tourony, Cierra, Paige and Samuel Sutphen, Kayla Beck, and Ryan Loper; great-grandchildren Zaelynn Loper, Jade, Jenna, and Roma Tourony. Jerry is also survived by his sister Jane Burns of Charlottesville, VA, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary (Walt) Stan, Dorothy (Paul) George, Valentine (Betty) Sojda, Richard (Dottie of Lancaster, NY) Sojda Jr., Julian (Dorothy, of Warsaw, NY) Sojda, and John (Ethyl, of Batavia, NY) Sojda Sr., and stepson David Colton.

He served as a 1st Sargent in the United States Army from 1951-1957 in World War II and Korea and, among others, earned the National Defense Service medal and Good Conduct medal.  He also had a 27-year career with Coca-Cola of Batavia, NY. Jerry was known and loved by all and could be frequently spotted on his three-wheel bike, all around Batavia, at all times of the year, or eating French crullers at Dunkin Donuts or hanging out at the VA.

Paul R. Parisi

Paul R. Parisi, 68, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Thursday December 1, 2016 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. He was born on April 16, 1948 in Rochester to the late Christopher and Carolyn (Renna) Parisi.

Paul was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Pastor Grace Bible Fellowship for 27 years in addition to working at Tops Supermarkets and after retiring you would often find him playing golf at Terry Hills Golf Course in Batavia.

He is survived by his wife; Angela Parisi of Batavia; children Rachel Parisi of Raleigh, NC., Tanya (Greg) Parisi-Vasos of Doylestown, PA., and Paul Parisi Jr. of Fairport; siblings Phyllis Wiles of FL., Christopher Parisi of FL., Suzanne Parisi of GA., and Alfred Parisi of Rochester; a granddaughter Arabella Parisi and a grandchild to be along with many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Of Varysburg, NY, passed away peacefully December 3, 2016 surrounded by family; wife of the late James Bylewski; mother of Jeremy & Ashley Rydza; grandmother of Liana & Nico; dearest daughter of Richard Klepser(Diane) and the late Phyllis Klepser; loving sister of Laurie Syms(Charles), Ric Klepser and David Klepser(Rebecca); also survived by nieces & nephews.

Joseph M. Guppenberger

Joseph M. Guppenberger, 79, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Saturday December 2, 2016 at the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia. He was born on December 27, 1936 in Batavia, the youngest of 8 children to the late August and Mary (Zeitz) Guppenberger. Joseph is predeceased by his brothers; Frances (Carol) Guppenberger and Rev. August Guppenberger, two brothers in law John Yunker, John Bueler and a sister in law Jean Guppenberger.

Joseph Graduated from Batavia High School in 1954. He served in the in the United States Army from 1954-1957 and was stationed with the 173rd Military Intelligence Platoon headquartered in Nuremburg, West Germany. After his service, he attended SUNY Fredonia on the Korean War G.I. bill and obtained his B.S. in Education. Joe taught at the Westfield Academy, Jordan-Elbridge Central and retired from Forestville Central Schools outside Fredonia. He was a proud member of the Forestville Teachers Association and the NYS Teachers Association, AARP, the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the St. Mary’s Altar Society. After his retirement, he volunteered at the VA Hospital, Stephen’s Table and St. Mary’s Church.

He is survived his brother; James Guppenberger of Florida; 4 sisters Mary Yunker of Oakfield, Helene Beuler of Livonia, Lois (John) Gringer of Spencerport and Barbara Guppenberger of Batavia along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday December 10, 2016 at Resurrection Parish 18 Ellicott St. Batavia, NY 14020. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia.

LISA A. MANES

LISA A. MANES

Age 50, of Oakfield, died peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born February 1, 1966 in Batavia, the daughter of John and Diane (Juliano) Bostwick of Batavia. She was preceded in death by her son, Casey John Boyce; maternal grandparents, the late Charlie (Nora) Juliano and paternal grandparents, Duane (Margaret “Jean”) Bostwick.  

Lisa was a graduate of Batavia High School. Her passion in life was music and her favorite activities were rocking out at concerts with her family and friends along with vacationing on Kid Rock tropical cruises with her husband.  Most of all, she loved simply spending time with her loved ones. 

Surviving along with her parents is her husband of 18 years, Glenn Manes of Oakfield; children, Brittany (fiance, Sean Montford) Boyce of Attica, Julianna (Jordan Blazejewski) Manes of Oakfield, Stormi Manes of Oakfield; sister, Zoe Bostwick of Batavia; grandmother, Betty Juliano of FL; father and mother-in-law, James (Barbara) Manes of Oakfield along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

There is no prior visitation and a celebration of Lisa's life will take place this Sunday, December 11 from 2-6PM at the Elba Fireman’s Recreation Hall.  Donations for Lisa’s memorial may be sent to any of the immediate family members at 7499 Fisher Rd, Oakfield, NY 14125.

BEATRICE "BEA" (FRIEDAY) McMANIS

BEATRICE "BEA" (FRIEDAY) McMANIS

Age 73, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday November 24, 2016 at the Batavia Health Care Center. She was born December 18, 1942 in Batavia, NY a daughter of the late Ralph and Angeline (LaRussa) Frieday also preceded in death by sister, Marilyn Geandreu. 

Bea was a moderator for many years working for Live World based in San Jose, CA; locally she moderated, Batavia Neighborhood Watch now known as Bea's-Town Batavia Neighborhood Watch, in her memory and a frequent contributor to the Daily News and Batavian. She was a board of elections volunteer, history buff, avid card player, Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed attending baseball games. She had an "extreme" love of coffee and was a Facebook "fanatic" who was always the first to "like" a post. 

Surviving are her loving children, John "J.D." (Deb) McManis of Alaska, Susan Kennelly of Batavia, Eric McManis of Florida, William McManis of MI and James (Jennifer) McManis of Caledonia; sisters, Judy (Gary Donsky) Guminski of Honeoye and Carol (David) Wilks of VA; brother-in-law, Pete Geandreu of Batavia; grandchildren, Tylor, Scotty, Angel, Troy, Mike, Billy, Riley, Doug, Taylor, Alicia, Cameron, TJ,  Brian, Sean & Suzanne, 6 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
