Yes, dreams can come true, and so far, they have for Brenden Mullen, who eight years after going to work in his father's restaurant, formerly Larry's Steakhouse, is now the owner of Carter's in the same location.

Baseball: Batavia suffers first league loss

Batavia lost to Eastridge at Eastridge on Wednesday, 8-0.

It was the Blue Devils first loss of the season to a league rival.

Brady Carney took the loss, going 3 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and eight runs.

Batavia walks it off against Eastridge to improve to 5-0 in league play

Batavia remained dominant in league play, improving to 5-0 (8-4 overall) with a 6-5 win over Eastridge on Tuesday.

The winning pitcher was Bronx Buchholz, who threw a complete gaming, surrending only five hits and striking out seven without walking any hitters.

Batavia ready to ask state to place $10 million bet on community's future

Just 10 years ago, Batavia was a city barely hanging on. Nobody could imagine, said City Manager Jason Molino, that things would have turned around enough by 2016 that Batavia could be a serious contender for a $10 million prize in a competition for downtown revitalization projects.
