Kris Clark and his father-in-law Andy Job have a simple request of people coming past their home in Darien: "Please don't shoot our deer."

Job has been raising deer on his Richley Road property for 15 years, and on at least two occasions, his deer have been shot and killed by passersby.

On Saturday, somebody in a sedan with a loud muffler pulled up to the fence line and fired a shot.

No deer were hit, but Clark, who lives at the house with his wife and two young children, was sitting with his family in the Florida room, which offers little protection from a ricocheting bullet.

"I don't want our deer shot, but that's not my biggest concern," Clark said. "The deer fenced area is close to the road and my house is also within close range. With that in mind, my children were home and I am lucky that no one was hurt or killed."

Job started keeping deer 15 years ago, buying two pregnant does. He now has 10, but he's kept as many as 18.

Several years ago, somebody shot eight deer on his property and just left them dead behind the fence. Then two years ago, somebody fired a .22 caliber bullet at his 10-point buck.

The buck was wounded, but wouldn't let Job get near it so he could care for its wound. The buck died two weeks later of an infection.

Big bucks, Job said, are worthy anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000. At the time, he had recently turned down an offer of $12,000 for the buck.

He didn't sell only because of DEC regulations that would have made a sale difficult and expensive.

But the deer are more than livestock to Job. They're also his pets. Clark said his father-in-law was upset when his buck died for reasons that had nothing to do with money.

When something like Saturday's gun shot happen, Clark said, the deer are spooked for days afterwards, making them less social and a little harder to get out of the back wooded area of the wooded area at feeding time.

The Sheriff's Office took a report on the shooting incident Saturday, but there isn't much to go on. It was dark and neither Clark nor a neighbor who also heard the shot got a good look at the car.

Still, Clark said, he's hoping somebody might know something and the Sheriff's Office can make an arrest in the case. Tips can be called into 345-3000.

Job said he welcomes people driving down Richley Road and stopping to look at his deer when they're near the front fence line. As long as they're just looking, Job said, that's fine.

Sheriff Gary Maha helped corral an alleged ice cream thief this afternoon.

Following a report of a theft of $7.27 in ice cream from the Arrow Mart on Clinton Street in the Town of Batavia, Maha spotted the suspect vehicle, a Chevy Venture, heading east on I-490.

Maha, driving an unmarked car, confirmed the description with dispatch and then stayed behind the suspect vehicle until it was intercepted by a State Trooper in North Chili.

Charged with petit larceny was Louis Edward Gary, 19, of Hopkins Street, Mount Morris.

Following the traffic stop in North Chili, Gary was brought back to Batavia where he was issued an appearance ticket.

A white male reportedly robbed the M&T Bank in Corfu. He displayed no weapon, but took a bunch of cash. He hand-carried the money. He fled on foot. No word on any vehicle involved.

He was wearing a black scarf over his mouth, a light gray hooded sweatshirt -- with the hood up. One teller said he was about 5'10" tall.

The bank is located at 1 E. Main St. The robbery was reported at 2:01 p.m.

Authorities have ordered Corfu School shut down as a precaution.

Sheriff's deputies are en route and scouring the area.

The Thruway Authority is being notified to be on alert.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m.: The man is believed to be light haired and without facial hair. They guess his age is late 20s, early 30s. Possibly his hoodie has the word "Pepsi" on the front, but that's not certain.

UPDATE 2:22 p.m.: The authorities are sifting through tips now. A person reports that he saw a man in the "Four Corners" area in a four-door silver sedan, possibly a Pontiac made in the '90s. (But one person says the vehicle is "more slopey in front than the boxy '90s model." When the man got out of the car, he was wearing a gray sweatshirt and he put the hood up. There are tracks to where the car was last seen. Sheriff's deputies are calling in a canine unit and they are reviewing available video tapes.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.: Authorities have allowed the school is be unlocked.

Steven Noel Paladino, 50, of Le Roy, is charged with petit larceny. Paladino is accused of shoplifting three packages of meat from Tops Market.

Mark Wilhelm Hanel, 39, of Swamp Road, Bergen, is charged with unlawful imprisonment, 2nd, criminal mischief, 4th, and harassment, 2nd. Hanel was charged following an alleged domestic incident at 8:10 p.m., Friday, in Bergen. Bail was set at $1,500.

Jamie Scott Wolbert, 22, of Lovers Lane, Pembroke, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater, failure to keep right and improper turn at an intersection. Wolbert was charged after his car was reportedly found in a ditch off Lovers Lane at 1:29 a.m., Saturday, by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Bruce Karl Knepper, 26, of Forestall Lane, Buffalo, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, failure to keep right and driving left of the pavement markings. Knepper was stopped at 6:08 a.m., Saturday, on Broadway Road, Alexander, by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Kyle W. Nash, 23, of Myrtle Street, Le Roy, is charged with disorderly conduct. Nash is accused of failing to leave the property of another person. He was arrested Saturday.

Mickey H. DeJesus, 22, of Perry Road, Le Roy, is charged with harassment, 2nd. DeJesus is accused of threatening another person.

Amy R. Sellhorst, 25, of York Road, Le Roy, is charged with assault, 2nd. Sellhorst is accused of hitting another person in the face with a blunt object during an incident on Sunday. The other person was reportedly injured. Bail was set at $1,500.

Amber L. Pellett, 27, of 11642 Platten Road, Lyndonville, is charged with DWI and inadequate headlamps. Pellett was stopped at 2:26 a.m., Thursday, on West Main Street, Batavia, by Officer Kevin DeFelice.

Jennifer M. Riggi is indicted on a charge of Grand Larceny, 3rd. Riggi is accused of stealing $6,227.74 between April 15 and Aug. 10 from a location in the Town of Le Roy. (Initial Report)

Kevin A. Hutzler is indicted on charges of DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or greater. Hutzler is accused of driving drunk Sept. 3 on Colby Road, Darien.

Bernard A. Buckenmeyer Jr., is indicted on charges of DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or greater. Buckenmeyer is accused of driving drunk Sept. 5 on Hunn Road, Alexander.

Ricky Allen Marsceill, 46, of 174 Ross St., Batavia, is accused of being a fugitive from justice. Marsceill was arrested by Batavia Police Det. Pat Corona on a warrant out of Florida. The underlying charge of the Florida warrant was not released. At 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, Corona approached Marsceill's residence on Ross Street and spotted Marsceill on a bicycle. Marsceill allegedly tried to flee on foot. Corona pursued Marsceill and Officer Jay Andrews responded to the scene. Marsceill was apprehended by Corona and Andrews on Manhatten Avenue. Marsceill was jailed without bail pending extradition to Florida. (Initial Report)

Randy K. Braun, 48, of Maier Lane, Caledonia, is charged with DWI, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely and uninspected vehicle. At 9:04 p.m., Wednesday, Deputy Matthew Butler responded to Route 63 in Bethany to investigate a report of a car off the road in a ditch. Braun was allegedly found to be the driver of the vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of DWI and jailed on $1,000 bail.

Vesna Brongo, 41, of Cadillac Avenue, Rochester, was arrested on a warrant for alleged aggravated unlicensed operation. Brongo was taken into custody by Rochester Police and turned over to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office. Brongo was arraigned in Town of Elba Court and jailed on $250 bail.

A 14-year-old boy from Byron is charged with criminal sexual act with a child 11 years old or younger and endangering the welfare of a child. The name of the suspect was not released by State Police. The crime was reported Dec. 21. No further details were released.

A Batavia Police officer notified dispatch that he was stopping at an address on Ross Street to arrest a subject on a warrant.

Seconds later, he called in that he was on foot pursuit of the suspect.

Two or three Batavia units immediately responded to the scene.

Within a minute, the officer called in that he had apprehended the suspect at the intersection of Ellsworth and Manhattan.

The suspect is now being transported to BPD to be turned over to the warrant officer.

(name redacted upon request -- case sealed), 16, of Cary Avenue, Oakfield, and (name redacted upon request -- case sealed), 17, of North Pearl Street, Oakfield, are charged with grand larceny, 4th, criminal mischief, 3rd, both felonies, and trespass. xxxx and xxxx are accused of trespassing on the Allen Food's property in Oakfield and causing $250 damage to property there, as well as stealing more than $1,000 in property. The alleged incident occurred at 2 a.m., Sunday. The case was investigated by Deputy Howard Carlson.

Phylicia L. Carey, 18, of Le Roy, is charged with attempted assault, 3rd. Carey is accused of attempting to assault a man who was in the custody of State troopers in Warsaw on Dec. 20. Carey was jailed on $5,000 bail. (Source: D&C)

A Le Roy-based drug dealer must spend two years in federal prison, a U.S. District Judge in Rochester decided today.

Edgardo Guzman, 33, was convicted in February 2008 of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute, 500 grams or more of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Harvey, who handled the case, stated that a joint federal and local investigation revealed that Guzman was responsible for obtaining as much as 3.5 kilograms of cocaine from a drug trafficking network in Rochester and distributing those drugs to others in the Rochester area from 2002 to 2005.

The investigation also revealed that between November 2003 and February 2004, the defendant possessed a semi-automatic pistol after being previously convicted of a drug felony in 2002.

Haven J. Armstrong, 26, of 25 Harvester Ave., Batavia, is charged with harassment, 2nd, and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from an alleged domestic incident on Summit Street at 6:40 p.m., Monday. Armstrong was jailed on $1,500 bail.

James Kenneth Goodenow, 39, of South Academy Street, Wyoming, is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. Goodenow was taken into custody on a bench warrant from Town of Stafford Court after being turned over to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office by Monroe County deputies.

Randy Johnson, 22, of 110 Walnut St., Batavia, is charged with harassment, 2nd. Johnson is accused of striking a family member during a domestic dispute at 11 a.m., Saturday.

Kurtis J. Worthington, 29, of Broadway Street, Rochester, is charged with DWI, aggravated DWI and moving from lane unsafely. Worthington was stopped at 7:35 p.m., Friday, on Route 33 in Stafford by Deputy Matt Butler.

Clinton James Laporte, 22, of Prole Road, Stafford, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, failure to stop and insufficient tail lamps. Laporte was stopped at 2:52 a.m. on South Lake Street, Bergen, by Deputy Jason Saile.

A Genesee County man will spend 24 months in federal prison for drug dealing, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Buffalo announced today.

Kenneth E. Munnings, 45, of Byron, was convicted in July in Federal Court of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana.

The charges stemmed from a join federal, state and local wiretap investigation, which revealed the defendant was responsible for obtaining significant quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana from a drug trafficking network in Rochester and then distributing the drugs in Genesee County.

Prosecutors say Munnings dealt drugs from some time in 2006 until October 2008.

A Batavia woman faces up to 10 years in federal prison after admitting in a Buffalo court today that she forged more than 100 business checks, pocketing more than $85,000.

Deborah Dutton, 55, entered a guilty plea to a charge of check forgery.

Dutton was accused in October of making out checks to herself and others for her benefit, drawn on her employer's business account.

Sentencing is set for 9 a.m., April 11, in Buffalo.

Somebody reportedly threw a cat from a moving vehicle in the area of Sport of Kings on West Main Street.

Police are looking for a gray Ford utility truck with a ladder rack on it.

A unit is being dispatched to the Sport of Kings area to see if he can find the cat and check on its welfare.

UPDATE 4:40 p.m. (Billie): The truck was last spotted eastbound on Route 5. So far, the cat has not been located.

Robert David Cassatt, 23, of South Main Street, Elba, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, moving from lane unsafely, and driving at a speed that is not reasonable or prudent. Cassatt was charged following a vehicle accident at 1:20 a.m. in the area of 7733 Oak Orchard Road, Elba. The accident was investigated by Deputy Jason Saile.

Collin M. Camp, 19, of North Spruce Street, Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, unsafe speed for conditions and uninspected motor vehicle. Camp was charged following a traffic accident at 12:20 p.m., Dec. 5, on Byron Road, Stafford. Three people, including Camp, were injured in the accident.

Mandy Jean Fogarty, 21, of North State Road, Nunda, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Fogarty was charged following a vehicle accident at 11:30 p.m., Dec. 14, on Route 63 in Pavilion after Deputy Brian Thompson reported smelling the odor of marijuana coming from her car. Also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana was Amie Lynn Fogarty, 23, of North State Road, Nunda.

Mark Laney, 30, of Clinton Street Road, Bergen, is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, speeding (49 mph in a 30 mph zone) and unlawful possession of marijuana. Laney was stopped at 11:50 p.m., Dec. 12, by Deputy Brian Thompson on Route 262 in Elba.

Martin Anthony Miller, 50, of Water Street, Oakfield, is charged with being a sex offender who failed to report his change of address within 10 days. He was arrested at an address on Route 33 in Bergen. Miller was jailed without bail.

Summer Ogden, 34, of 4036 W. Main St. Road, Batavia, is charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon, 4th, attempted criminal mischief, 4th, and criminal tampering, 3rd. At 6:28 p.m., Monday, the Sheriff's Office attempted to execute a warrant out of Batavia City Court for her arrest for allegedly violating probation. While taking Ogden into custody, she allegedly physically struggled with deputies. After the arrest, she was allegedly found in possession of an illegal knife. During transport to Genesee County Jail, Ogden allegedly kicked at the windows of the patrol car and spit on equipment inside of the car. Ogden was jailed on $2,500 bail. Eric James Flowers, 23, of Seven Springs Road, Batavia, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), 7th, unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation and uninspected motor vehicle. At 8:21 a.m., Dec. 5, Flowers was observed by Deputy Brian Thompson driving on Trumbull Parkway, Batavia. Flowers was known, according to Thompson, to have a suspended or revoked driver's license. After being stopped, Flowers was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and hydrocodone.

Collin Michael Camp, 19, of North Spreet, Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unsafe speed. Camp was arrested at 12:20 p.m., Dec. 5, after allegedly being found in possession of marijuana during an accident investigation conducted by Deputy Brian Thompson.

Timothy R. Tucker, 45, of Medina, is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or greater. Tucker was arrested by State Police at 3:13 p.m., Saturday, following an investigation into a two-car accident on Alleghany Road, Alabama. No injuries were reported in the accident.

WHAM 13's Sean Carroll sat down with John Parrinello, the prominent Monroe County attorney and politician arrested recently at GCC and charged with criminal trespass.

Parrinello says he's retained Batavia attorney Lisa Kroemer to represent him. He believes two five-minute videos of the incident posted on YouTube vindicate him.  He indicates he was trying to leave when he was arrested, but wanted to leave by the exit nearest his car rather than the one the trooper wanted him to leave by (don't all exits from the gym lead to one exit to the parking lot -- I mean, does it really matter which gym door he goes out of to be "closer to his car"?)

A man arrested in Genesee County with warrants in San Francisco and Ithaca entered a guilty plea today to criminal possession of stolen property.

Thomas E. Dodson, 24, admitted to possessing a stolen benefits card belonging to another person.

There was some discussion about his admission because at first Dodson would only say that he possessed the card knowing it wasn't his, but in order for him to admit to the charge, he had to admit that he knew the card was stolen, not that it just didn't belong to him.

As part of his plea deal, the other charges against him are dropped and his sentence will be served concurrently with time he is already doing in state prison on a Tompkins County conviction for robbery, 3rd.

Dodson will be sentenced on the Genesee County conviction at 3 p.m., Feb. 23.
