POLICE CHECKPOINTS! In the past few weeks I have seen heated discussions in reference to police checkpoints being a waste of taxpayer's money and harassing law abiding citizens.

I just want to bring to the attention of these PEOPLE who feel that they are being harassed and taxpayer's dollars are being wasted, this point. How about the death of an 18 YEARS OLD GIRL by a drunk driver?

Thank GOD the POLICE didn't set up a checkpoint on RT 20 & 238 (sarcasm), in which they would have detected an unregistered, uninsured, and uninspected vehicle, driven by a drunken driver. Oh this doesn't happen all the time you say!? That is because, of other checkpoints such as the 14 arrests from the recent one and the one with 22? I believe arrests from back in June.

I am GLAD (sarcasm) to see from past post that their are so many dumases (fit these people to a T) that believe checkpoints are police harassment and a waste of taxpayer's money(BS). You all know who you are! I DARE YOU to tell that to the Stanley Family.

Police harassment? How much pain and suffering would of been avoided if there was a checkpoint set up to catch Mr. Wendt before he decided to drive drunk and turn left into the path of oncoming traffic? Or better yet! Just imagine if they spotted his uninsured, unregistered, and uninspected vehicle before he went out drinking.

A waste of taxpayer's dollars, how much does it cost the taxpayer to house, and feed a prisoner? How much does it cost to bring fire rescue, county coroner, medic services to a scene of a motor vehicle wreck? If someone can not afford legal counsel then how much for a public defender?

If, you still feel that checkpoints are police harassment and a waste of taxpayer's dollars, then maybe you should have to pay a stupidity tax that covers all medical, court, prison, fire rescue, family pain and suffering cost, etc.......
