Deputy responds to complaint of 'suspected' stinky garbage burning all weekend in Pembroke

By Billie Owens

A Sheriff's deputy is responding to the Town of Pembroke for a complaint about the possible burning of trash. The address is 2473 Genesee St., near Read Road.

A neighbor suspects garbage is being burned, and has been smoldering for the entire weekend, "based on the odor and the ashes that are scattered all over the properties."

When I was growing up in Corfu in the 70s that was how we (and all our neighbors) had to take care of our garbage - we burned it.

Glad that's not the (normal) case anymore.

I have to admit that I am curious about the downvotes. Not being thick skinned (only two? HA!), but would the downvotes be due to that statement that we had burned our garbage 40+ years ago, which is definitely NOT a good thing, or because I stated I was happy that is not being done anymore?
