A three-car accident with air-bag deployment and possible injuries is reported in front of Batavia Downs on Park Road. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:29 p.m.: No injuries. A car was stopped in front of the Downs' entrance to unload passengers and another vehicle rear-ended it, then another vehicle rear-ended the second vehicle -- a chain reaction.

They tell you to drop of passengers at the valet enterance at the South end of the building. People insist on stopping at the main doors and backing up thru traffic.

What makes the area more of a problem, besides playing "hide and seek" with patrons because you cant see them coming out of the Downs, they added the new entrance and exit to the same area, brilliant. Did the same person who designed the cluster by Tim Horton's and Wendy's come up with it?

To make matters even worse, why is the speed limit still 35mph on Park Rd and in front of BD?

Speed limit does not stop the idiots from speeding right on through. Park Road needs to be closed down for public safety at that location. Anyone stopped to let out passengers should be ticketed. But the Pillars blocking the view of both drivers and pedestrians is bad.
One Friday Morning I was nearly scrambled when leaving by a pickup truck. I got the license # and gave it to security since it was obviously a horseman. They never stopped and waved at me when they almost drove me over. I do not think anything ever happened to the idiot. There will be more accidents there, and unfortunately more pedestrians hit. Batavia Downs knows it, and has been warned. There does not seem to be too much concern for anyone once they leave the building. That includes the parking lot as well, which has many many people parking all over where they are not supposed to, blocking Fire Lanes and Isles. Close Park Road. It is not necessary there.

Or, Fred, maybe the city/town should spend $100,000, or so, to hire some out-of-state company to do a feasibility study on whether a roundabout would be a solution to that area.
