Truck shears off boom at Route 5 bridge in Le Roy

By Billie Owens

A big boom truck has struck the overhead bridge westbound on Route 5, Main Street, in the Village of Le Roy.

"It took the boom right off," says a responder.

The boom is in the roadway, completely blocking traffic. Le Roy Fire has been dispatched to handle traffic and as a precaution.

The driver has unknown, if any, injuries.

Road is still closed as of 12:15pm. I believe the driver is walking around, he does not look like he's having a good day. It's a Ferrel Propane truck. Some kind of spill on the road they are cleaning up as well as the boom.

When I worked for Montgomery Wards in Batavia in 1971, their delivery truck driver hit an overpass and took out a Freezer, Refrigerator, Stove and a third of the cargo box on the truck. Everyone in the store but the driver, and the manager, was laughing their arses off for a week.
