Today's Poll: What do you think of the new traffic signals at Ellicott and Main?
I think the State finally came up with a safe, successful way for pedestrians to navigate crossing by the monument.
I really don't think it makes a difference either way.Still going to be tricky for pedestrians to cross there because of the volume of traffic. You get a red arrow for about two seconds. Waste of time and money in my opinion
Another stupid move. Lets start being real here. 90% or more of people DRIVE to where they want to go. So making it safer for walkers and bikers is the equivalent of screwing the other 90% and making them sit in traffic, making their commute longer EVERY day. We made Ellicott street down to one lane, for the bike lane, the bike lane that no sane person EVER uses because they want the curb between them and traffic. I see traffic backed up behind a truck that there is no opportunity to pass until bethany, every day! You know what i have yet to see? A crowded bike lane or sidewalk.... So yeah lets keep making it safe for a small percentage of people, and keep screwing the rest of us. Brilliant and well thought out.
I am so happy that something has been done by that crossing. I had a group of 35 children trying to cross the street. We finally got the go from the light but it did not coincide with the traffic light going west. I had to pull children back on the curb when a car went by just missing them. I would like to thank who ever was responsible for the change.
Anne Marie...you just validated my point...still tricky isnt it?....and chris...i couldn't have said it better myself.......and lets not forget what they did to oak st. turning that into a 1 lane. stupid!
I think it's a good start to calm the overbuilt intersection. The state routes are not pedestrian friendly at all, especially when drivers don't pay attention to (or follow) road signs.
Also, if you think traffic in Batavia is so horrible then you clearly don't get out much.
