Twenty-five thousand jobs flushed down the toilet. Now, if you think this is a great idea, here is another good idea brought to you by Politicians of the same mindset. Allowing convicted felons, murderers, rapists pedophiles, etc to serve on juries.

Rich, you say that like there is something wrong with having a felony record. Felons are people too you know? ....... As far as the OP I'm glad to see them leave town. Giving billions of dollars in tax breaks to one of the richest companies in America is a terrible idea.
I've been paying property/school taxes for years and years, may I have One year where I don't have to pay? Just let me have One year tax free, bahahaha, imagine that?

The Left wing Democratic Liberal are well on their way to over see the destruction of this once powerful State. As the above comment suggests, the loss of the high paying jobs and the economy fall out is un-caluculable for the well being of NYS.

Really, Dave, felons are people too? Do you think there is nothing wrong with having a felony arrest? Do you think having a felony arrest and conviction is a virtue? If one felony arrest is good, are four or five felony arrests, and being career criminals is something we should all aspire too?

Really, off topic ... but once a felon has done his time, served probation, not re-offended, why should he continued to be punished?

As for the Amazon deal ... Another 25K in Queens in quick order would have been a strain on all sorts of public infrastructure.

And talk about a company that doesn't need the subsidies ...

Would you feel the same way if it had been conservatives leading the charge against the subsidies? Well, many conservatives and libertarians did oppose the deal.

Where did I say anything about "the victim have to remember" ... that's just bizarre.

Howard, my comment was in regards to the victims of felonious crimes, who will never forget the injustice that was perpetrated upon them. A rape or assault will always linger in the memories of said victims. There is way too much " just turn the other cheek" in society today, hence rampant crime. Our liberal society wants to blame John Q. Taxpayer, take his guns, and put criminals up on a pedestal. Felonies are a very serious breech of law. Ask any victim

I came across an interesting take on the Amazon pull-out. It's kind of a mixed bag imo. For what it's worth: https://nypost.com/2019/02/19/what-new-york-doesnt-get-about-job-creation/

Thomas, I don't see how that is relevant to anything I said.

Howard, you said "once a felon has done his time, served probation, not reoffended, why should he continue to be punished". My retort was "why should the victim have to remember"? I can`t break it down any further. I don`t feel that question is at all bizarre! Once Bitten, Twice Shy!

There is no logical connection between those two statements, so it is bizarre.

Amazon should be broken up using the anti-trust laws that were created to deal with just that type of behemoth. When companies/corporations grow too big they are danger to our country in a myriad of ways. Building the infrastructure for the facility in question would be a very, very expensive and invasive undertaking. If there's any justice left in our country amazon will be broken up tomorrow. If and when that happens the remaining buildings/infrastructure will be a ghost town full of shadows that will haunt the neighboring communities.
The fact that this monstrosity pays no taxes, coupled with the loss of taxes on the goods they ship is a detriment to the vast majority of Americans. Companies like Google, who has been shown to direct content to your attention that they prefer you to see, as opposed to what you're looking for is another company that needs busted up. As is facebook, which has indulged the warmongering and usurping of our constitutional rights by those currently in power by censoring and defunding.
Thomas I understand your point of view regarding felons. My mom and dad had that view as did I for... ever. The problem is that view has proven to create more victims & more crime rather than the opposite.

A business that is only five percent of US retail is a behemoth? Should be broken up?

Only? With that logic it would be ok if 20 companies provided all our retail. I know that works fine for many regarding ownership of our media but that's only because the public doesn't know and/or understand the ramifications. Hence their acquiescence.
The fact is with 9% of all retail done online, and consistently gaining share, amazon has virtually half the market. 11 billion profits with negative tax rate? Behemoth.

Yes, only.

There are 3.8 million retail establishments in the U.S. Amazon is a long way from being a monopoly.
