BPD offering $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Devon Wright
The Batavia Police Department has partnered with Crime Stoppers Buffalo which is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of Devon Wright. Wright is wanted for violating his release terms on a recent plea pertaining to the charges of PL 110.00 & 265.03-3 - Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, PL 120.00-1 - Assault 3rd, PL 110.00 & 120.10-1 - Attempted Assault 1st, and PL 130.50-4 - Criminal Sexual Act 4th. Wright is also wanted for PL 145.14 - Criminal Tampering 3rd, and PL 240.26 - Harassment 2nd (2 counts) stemming from an incident that occurred on 11/27/2021 at a residence on Central Avenue.
Citizens are urged to come forward with information on where to locate Wright. Not a big fan our justice system in this state, but not sure this is a good example of the merits of bail reform laws. Get that's it's cheaper than holding him in jail until trial, not sure if the cost savings are going to be passed on to us. Think this law needs a tweak, though I could not be seeing the big picture.
He's already gone to trial ... entered a guilty plea during trial ... released to be present for the birth of his first child.
lol Think of it this way, him being on the lam is saving money too, no room and board. Over there at the other end of the State the D.A. Alvin Bragg most likely would Not have charged him with a crime in the first place. Won't be long before the Manhattan cancer works it way to WNY......
This has nothing to do with bail reform. This is why judges turn harsh and have no empathy for defendants. I'm sure the judge in this case will have reservations before giving a defendant any judicial permissions again regardless of circumstance.
