I don't always follow the surveys to the end, but I cannot remember one surpassing 500 votes and with the results so one sided. Interesting results.

No. I'd like to see no private gun ownership in this country. 4% (22 votes)

Might I recommend Japan or England as your home?

I own my shotguns for hunting purposes. They are there for protection if someone breaks in, but I don't keep them loaded. I have a right to have these. I know that a criminal could break in and steal my firearms and use them in another crime, but that criminal would always have another place to get a gun from. They will always be in the hands of criminals on the streets no matter what the gov't does, and if I don't have anything, that makes me vulnerable. Maybe if someone cases my house and sees me with a shotgun, they move on. Hmmm.

It's always interesting to me that many more people are killed each year in America by the automobile than by a firearm, but noone talks about banning cars. I believe guns have become a convenient bogey-man to avoid dealing with the real causes of crime. It's too difficult and painful to face all our societal problems and many can't be solved anyway. So, blame guns.......problem solved.

I was once asked on a questionnaire at my pediatrician's office if there were guns in my house. I inquired of the Dr. what business they had asking the question and the reply was that it was a safety issue since so many children are hurt or killed each year by guns in the home. I then informed the Dr. that statistically more children drown in small uncovered containers and water sources around the home each year than by guns, so until the questionnaire asked how many open 5 gallon buckets of water I had around the house, I would not answer the gun question.
