Videos: Security cameras at Walmart capture events of Dec. 24, 2011

By Howard B. Owens

This first video shows a ceiling view of express lane #2 in Walmart's grocery section when Jacquetta Simmons and Isaac Simmons purchase some hot chicken just before Grace Suozzi requests a copy of the receipt for items in a Walmart bag being held by Isaac. The sequence covers the entire transaction up to the point just after Suozzi leaves her register after Simmons grabs her bag of purchased items.

This video shows a wide aisle way from the point Randy Johnson, a defense team witness, enters the frame through the point where customers are following Simmons out of the store.

This video shows what transpired in the parking lot after Simmons left the store.

NOTE: A big "thank you" to Mark and Michelle Johnson of Millennium Computer on Washington Avenue in Batavia. Once the District Attorney's Office located a CD with the video on it that could be turned over to the media (the copy in the courtroom is evidence and could not be turned over), I took the CD to Millennium. Michelle, during lunch hour, immediately began making duplicate copies for all of the various news agencies that requested copies, such as WHAM13, News10, YNN, WBTA, WIVB, The Batavian and the Batavia Daily News. They did all this work for no charge to any of the media outlets.

I really hope that trashy woman gets locked up for good we do not need people like that in Batavia. Maybe they should lock up that defense attorney as well for spewing all his B.S. and we could call that an unfortunate accident as well.

On top of it all she parks in a handicap spot...Even through her mother who had the handicap for herself wasn't with her......Speaks loudly of the character of Simmons....She took up a handicap spot that should of been for someone who really needed it....

The good thing to point out here..... Unlike many cities, notice more than 2 dozen of our locals between helping Grace and pursuing the couple..

No looking the other way in this town, as angry as I am that Grace got punched, as horrified as I am that a young couple would under any circumstance do this, I am proud that my neighbors rallied, blocked her vehicle in and kept her in sight until police arrived.

Seeing these recordings, I can see no way the defense argument holds water, it looks like she cocked her arm back and laid into that poor women.. Case over in my view

Big brother isn't all bad.. So wouldn't it be a hate crime if a white person said something racial and derogatory towards a black person like she is accused of saying to the WHITE people present. This girl is a punk and clearly would never step up to someone her own size and do this, a four foot something old lady she clearly is the lowest form of human excrement that there is. And your right Mark where she parks says a lot about her character. This evidence clearly made my day.
Well at least if she does get off on these charges we probably don't have to worry about our community being burnt to the ground...I Hope..

I was watching the coverage on WGRZ CHANNEL 2 tonight. It showed Ms. Simmons walking up to the courthouse....she turns her head and spits on the sidewalk !! That speaks volumes about her. What a lady.....

What were the laws and punishments of the old west, David? Are you talking about vigilantism? The old west actually had courts of law. They didn't have the level of sophistication that is now present in the court system, but they had jury selections, trials, judges, lawyers..etc.

Doug...you always seem to dip into the negative in your votes before they go positive. Must be some dont understand your sarcasm or point of view, it always comes back up when the less neandertal members of the community get to read it :D

in order to get better view, look at 2nd video "punches/hits" on youtube using the full screen player. that feature is found at bottom right corner of screen. go to the 17th or 17.5th second of the video. there was a lady wearing a dark red shirt with a blue/grey sweatshirt wrapped around her waist standing behind Simmons before she punched the greeter. the red shirted lady has her right knee extended forward and appears to be going towards Simmons, but full view is blocked by a man with a white dress shirt and black pants. that man must know whether the red shirt lady was pulling on Simmons' arm. this video is like Batavia's very own Zapruder film...
