I'd be very surprised if anyone outside of those politically connected to Silver and maybe a very few extreme partisan Democrats think he shouldn't resign. I'd also be very surprised if he actually decided it was the right thing to do. The question is, how do we remove him? And he really needs to go.

Every Democrat that has tried to oppose this guy has been crushed politically, It is going to take a lot more than two Democrats to unseat this political monster

I have always half jokingly said, the only opponent that will remove Silver is the one who eventually removes us all.... Death. I wish some crazy would target him, not even succeed in killing him but scare him enough to make him remove himself from the spotlight and retire.

Kyle, you're a great guy and all .. but, man, I could never wish for harm to any person, not even one who has done me personal grievous wrong (and there have been a couple) and certainly not over something as relatively trivial as politics.

As the poll only allowed for a yes/no vote, I voted YES. Better than him resigning, I would much prefer that he was THROWN OUT! Somewhere, recently, I believe I read an article that (stated or hinted - not sure which) he had been involved with being instrumental with using taxpayer money to "hush-up" some (pending) scandal. IF that was true, the man should be exposed and disgraced. And THEN, DUMPED! If he was doing something ILLEGAL, he should be charged and tried for said illegality. If he were (only!!??) doing something UNETHICAL, then he should, again, be exposed and disgraced. And THEN, DUMPED! There should be NO position in gov't that would allow for ANYTHING ILLEGAL or UNETHICAL!

I know Howard, it kinda disgusts me too that I would feel that way but even mitigating it with the "jokingingly" qualifer I still have that thought cross my mind. I would never do such a thing but in todays world with all the nutjobs out there I still find it surprising sometimes that it hasn't happened.

Ed, that's a big piece of the problem, his unethical and possibly illegal actions have been exposed, but as Mark said above he buries an Democrat who tries to censure or run against him, The Repub's have not enough strength in the assembly to unseat him. The guy is more powerful than Boss Tweed and probably just as corrupt. It is thoroughly disgusting. I agree with you completely, so do a lot of Upstate New Yorkers, somehow he manages to shrug it all off. I watch New York Now almost every Sunday , 9:30 AM channel 17. They were talking about him and the Lopez scandal (the one you are referring to I'd bet) they showed a clip of a reporter asking Silver if he is considering resigning and he showed no emotion, shrugged and said that the things he set out to accomplish when he first ran for the assembly have not been accomplished yet, so he'll stay as long as his constituents want him to and he'll stay speaker as long as his party elects him to the seat. Didn't faze him one bit.

The only way he'll go is if the governor feels Silver is hurting his image and/or chances of running for President. If Andrew turns on him, Silver is done.
