Deputy Frank Bordonaro dies of apparent heart attack while sleeping at home

posted by Howard B. Owens in Sheriff's Office.

On calls, he was known as GS-29, but there was no mistaking Deputy Frank Bordonaro's slow-rolling baritone.

GS-29 answered his final call some time this morning.

Bordonaro's shift ended at 7 a.m. He went home, went to bed and was later found unresponsive.

Sheriff Gary Maha said Bordonaro may have had a heart attack.

Bordonaro was 44. He was with the Sheriff's Office for 19 years. He is survived by his wife, Robin, and two sons, Bryce, 14, and Chase, 12.

No further information is available at this time.

Frank was a great credit to local law enforcement -- always professional, always helpful out on the scene, always thorough in his work. Search the site for his name and you'll find he handled a lot and a variety of cases.

Billie and I were both saddened to learn of his death. Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

A great deputy and credit to his profession. A family man dedicated to his wife Robin and two boys. A coach and mentor to many. Frank was what all father's should be. He will be missed doesn't say enough. A loss to our community and our county police force. The last time I saw Frank he was coaching Little League and loving every minute! Prayers to the family. RIP Frank Bordonaro..

Frank was a great friend and even better person. We grew up togehter, played Football together, graduated High School together and went off to college sharing a special bond. I will never forget the times we shared with Brian Wormley, Phil Graz, Mike Minor, Ryan Tenney and the rest of the "crew". Frank was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to Robin and his two boys, Chase and Bryce. Please remeber your dad as a true professional and ethical man. He loved his country and loved his family even more. We will all miss you "Frankie Bow and Arrow"....R.I.P.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of my fellow Batavia High School and Mansfield University classmate. I have fond memories of watching him play football! He will be sadly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

What a sad and terrible loss -- both to his family, and to the community he served.
