Photos from 2014: A tribute to the firefighters who serve Genesee County

By Howard B. Owens

This is the third year we've created a slide show of photos from 2014 of our firefighters as a way to honor those who serve our community in an often difficult, sometimes dangerous job, and many times an emotionally draining one, too. We thank them for their service to our community.

There are not as many opportunities to get photos of police officers on the job, but we also want to extend a thank you to the members of our local law enforcement community for all they do to protect and serve.

Very nice gallery of pictures, Howard. Thanks for honoring these people. I think it important to point out that outside of the City of Batavia and the Mercy Medics, the vast majority of these folks are volunteers who have full time jobs elsewhere and do this only because they want to help out a neighbor, and help protect their brethren.
Thanks to all the Volunteer firefighters for everything you do.

I would also like to thank these wonderful, brave community heroes. They answer the call and help us all, often at our most trying times. I will pray for your safety and support you always.

Very nice tribute, Howard. Thank you from the wife of a firefighter/Chief and Mercy/ EMT tech. So very proud of my husband and all those who give of themselves for the betterment of our communities. Neighbors helping neighbors!
