local motorcycle club joining patriot guard riders on mission for war hero
Update 28 April 2009 Reminder: 3 May: Benefit for Donald Woodward. The PGR is escorting Donald from his home in Dayton, NY to the Gowanda American Legion where the benefit is being held. Staging at Noon at the Gowanda American Legion. We will depart the AL at 12:30 and plan on being back at 1ish. We have secured a trike for him to ride from his home to the AL if he chooses to ride. This escort will take only an hour from your Sunday. If you are going on a ride Sunday please consider joining us for this escort. I am estimating this escort will take about an hour from staging to the end if you do not wish to stay for the benefit. Welcome Home - SPC. Donald Woodward, Gowanda NY, 03 MAY 09
Don was severely burned (over 83% of his body) while serving our country in Iraq. On November 1, 2007, the vehicle he was driving hit an Improvised Explosive Device. He currently remains in recovery at Brooke Army Medical Center on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He will not be released until all wounds have close and rehab has brought him as far as he can progress, hopefully, sometime this spring or summer.
Don graduated from Gowanda Central School in 2002. His wife Crystal is from Forestville, NY and they have 3 lovely daughters.
