UMMC breaks ground on $20 million expansion

By Howard B. Owens

A host of local dignitaries and medical professionals gathered in the North Street parking lot today for a groundbreaking ceremony on a $20 million expansion of United Memorial Medical Center.

The project will add 44,000 square feet to the facility as a one-story addition to the front of the current structure. Operating room space will double from 300 square feet to 600 square feet. An additional 19 private recovery beds will be added to the hospital as well.

Since they are all just pretending to work, don't you think the hard hats are overkill? No one except a poser would wear a hard hat unless it was a requirement for employment, and even then we complained.

Tom!!!! Good to see you on here again. I hope all is well. I think the hospital definatly needs renovation. I just hope the work is done where it is needed. We also have St. Jerome for outpatient sevices. Thats a big hospital with lots of space.
