Marie C. “Mady” McConnell, 83 of Batavia, died June 2, 2011 at the Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia. She was born October 17, 1927 in Batavia, NY to the late Anthony and Agnes (Aquino) Antignani. Mrs. McConnell was retired from Batavia Tailors where she worked for 20 years and prior to that she worked at Kresge’s. She was a member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s), the Altar & Rosary Society of the Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who also enjoyed cooking. She is preceded in death by her brother Louis Antignani.
She is survived by her sons Gordon McConnell of Oakfield, and Brian (Diane) McConnell of Rochester. Two grandchildren Christopher (Kimberly) McConnell and Erin (Derrick) DiCesare, and two great grandchildren Mady Marie McConnell and Connor Ryan DiCesare and a sister May Sorge of California also survive.
Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday June 5, 2011 from 4 to 7 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Prayers will be recited on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Resurrection Parish-St. Joseph’s Church 303 East Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
