PHILIP J. OLVERD

Batavia ~ Philip J. Olverd, age 91, passed away Saturday afternoon (August 13, 2016) at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia in the loving presence of his youngest son, Philip.

     He was born December 3, 1924 in Mt. Morris, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Gambino Olverd.

     He will be remembered as a very loving family man, who had an amazing sense of humor.  He also loved to play guitar, even though he could not read the music.

     He is survived by his sons, Joseph Olverd of Batavia and Philip Olverd of Pittsburgh; his daughters, Phyllis (Jack) Pata of Rochester and Rosalie (late Vincent) Pusateri of Avon; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

     He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Harriet Horton Olverd, his brothers, Russell, Joseph, Michael and Louis and his sisters, Frances Radesi, Virginia Plane and Rose Olverd.

     His family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 10 ~ 12 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel LLC, 4120 West Main St. Rd., Batavia, where services will be held at 11:45 AM.  Interment in the Mumford Rural Cemetery will be private.
