Carl Raphael, 76 of Batavia, NY died July 30, 2010 following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family at his home under HomeCare & Hospice. Born May 17, 1934 in Batavia, New York son of the late Daniel (Helen Ferrucci) Raphael. 
 
Mr. Raphael retired as the Park Supervisor with over 30 years of employment for the City of Batavia; he also worked for over 37 years at Batavia Downs retiring as Chief of Security. He was an Army Veteran and member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s Church). He was also a member of North American Hunt Club, the NRA, the Oakfield Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Polish Falcons and St. Nicholas Social Club. Carl was a loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family; he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. 
 
Preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. (Wallace) Raphael in 2003 and a sister Geraldine Raphael.
 
He is survived by his children Daniel S. (Phyllis) Raphael, Gary M. (Margaret) Raphael, and Lori A. (Emery) Green all of Batavia.  8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. 
 
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 3, 2010 from 3 to 7 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc., 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 9:30AM. Burial will take place in Grand View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Genesee Cancer Assistance, 16 Bank Street, Batavia, NY 14020 or to Batavia Youth Football c/o 216 E.
