Elvin E. “Gene” Warren, Jr.
Age 63, of Batavia, former owner/operator of Slim Warren Mulch & Topsoil, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, March 1, 2017 under the care of hospice and his family.
Gene was born April 8, 1953 in Batavia, NY, son of Agnes (Banglesdorf) Warren of Batavia and the late Elvin E. “Slim” Warren, and was a 1971 graduate of Pembroke High School. He was a self-employed custom applicator for ten years and worked as a construction equipment operator for the NYS DOT for 20 years before retiring in 2008. He belonged to St Maximilian Kolbe parish and was a lifelong member of the Sportsmans Coonhunters Association. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his dogs, fishing, and playing cards with his friends. He was especially proud of his sons and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, Gene is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathryn (Driscoll) Warren of Batavia, sons Mark (Jessica) Warren and Matthew (Maggie) Warren, both of LeRoy, NY, sisters Mary Kay (Frank) Schwerthoffer of Ft Mill, SC and Wendy (Jim) Gerrard of Batavia, mother-in-law Frances Driscoll, sisters-in-law Anne (Charlie) O’Geen, Pat (Jae) Choi, and Peg (John) Steele, brother-in-law Rick (Jane) Driscoll, grandchildren Lucy, Isaac, Penelope, Patrick and Elliot, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at the Michael Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC, 4120 West Main Street, Batavia, NY where prayers will be recited 12 Noon Saturday, March 4th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at Resurrection Parish (St. Mary’s site) and will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, E. Pembroke.
