Anastasia Rumsey

Anastasia Rumsey, 96, of Perry died on December 27, 2014 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York.  She was born in Jermyn, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1918 a daughter of the late John and Mary (Kutch) Rusiniak.  Mrs. Rumsey taught piano out of her home for over 58 years. She studied music at Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA and voice at The Conservatory of Music in Scranton, PA.  She was an active member of the Baptist Church of Perry. She sang in the choir since 1946 and played piano for many services and occasions, taught Sunday school, was a deaconess, and was a member of the “Mutuals Friends” and “Class Original” clubs through the church. 

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Maurice W. Rumsey who died in 1999, a son-in-law Edward Cohen and siblings John and Andrew Rusiniak and Mary Waibel.

She is survived by her daughter Darlene Cohen of King of Prussia, PA.; her son Paul (Gail) Rumsey of Naples;  a sister Elizabeth Wargo of Olyphant, Pa.; 2 grandchildren  Leanne (Ben) Loyd of Acton, Mass. and Matthew Bergey of NYC  along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 3-7 pm on Friday January 2nd at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 3rd at the Baptist Church of Perry 77 N. Main St. Perry at 11:00am.  She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.
