DOROTHY C. MOYNIHAN

DOROTHY C. MOYNIHAN - 80, of Batavia, died Saturday evening December 27, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center with her loving daughter and granddaughter at her side. She was born July 24, 1934 in Alexander, NY to the late Charles and Margaret (Gilhooly) Buckenmeyer, also preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Moynihan in 2012; infant children, Edward, Patrick & Mary; siblings, Elizabeth and Charles Buckenmeyer, Mary (late Larry) Falkowski and Lucy Moag.

   Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Alexander Central School, a longtime member of Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's) and the Catholic Daughters. A proud and caring woman who was always there to help family, friends or anyone in need. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and shopping, she also loved to dance and never turned down a good party. She will be remembered for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and kind heart. Her beloved grandchildren were the light of her life and she adored spending time with them. Dorothy in the last couple of years struggled with many health issues but did so with dignity and grace and she did all her life, one of her final wishes was to enjoy lobster at the Red Osier, which she enjoyed greatly with her family.

   Surviving is her caregiver and beloved daughter, Elizabeth (Russell) Brinkman of Alexander; 2 cherished grandchildren, Chelsey Patricia and Russell Edward; siblings, Catherine Raines of Alexander, Francis (late Joan) Buckenmeyer of Alexander, George (Dorothy) Buckenmeyer of FL, Margaret (James) Hofmann of Attica, Bernard (Geraldine) Buckenmeyer of Alexander; sisters-in-law, Violet Buckenmeyer of Darien, Frances (late Richard) Driscoll of Batavia and Agnes (Ralph) Houseknecht of Stafford along with several nieces and nephews.

   Liz and her family will be present from 3-8 p.m. Friday January 2, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 WEST MAIN STREET ROAD BATAVIA, NEW YORK 14020 where prayers will be recited 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 3 followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Resurrection Parish (St. Mary's Site). She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in St. Joseph's Cemetery and memorials in her memory can be made to Genesee County ARC or Notre Dame High School.
