Mr. Arnold L. Tiede

Batavia - Arnold L. Tiede, age 98, of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Tiede was born May 22, 1919 in Bethany Center, the son of the late Fred and Bertha Nadler Tiede.

He was the body shop manager for the former Vincent Pontiac in Batavia for over 25 years. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Batavia, Mr. Tiede was a member of the former Moose Club in Batavia and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Veness - Strollo Post 1602. A devoted family man he enjoyed camping at Fish Creek Ponds in the Adirondacks. He proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Sprague Tiede, whom he married October 3, 1941; his daughter-in-law, Brenda J. Tiede of Batavia; his grandson, Richard B. (Meghan) Tiede of Batavia; two great-granddaughters, Hannah M. & Julieanna K. Tiede of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his son, Richard A. Tiede who passed away in 2012 and his siblings, Harold Tiede, Elsie Sage and Isabel Tharnish.

Friends may call on Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery.
