Marie E. Sztaba, 96 of Corfu, passed away peacefully on Sunday (January 6, 2019) at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

She was born July 24, 1922 in Pembroke, NY, a daughter of the late Clair and Alice Falker Higgins.

Marie and her husband operated a dairy farm together for many years.  Upon their retirement they enjoyed traveling in their RV, summers at Black Lake, NY fishing, and winters in Florida.  Upon her husband’s death Marie took up golf, enjoyed winters in Florida, and summers with her family and friends in the Batavia area.  Her golfing career of 19 years included 3 holes-in-one.  Marie also enjoyed trips to the casino.  At age 89 she sold her home in Florida and returned to the Batavia area.  She enjoyed family holidays and visits - the laughter they provided always made her smile.

She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Sztaba, daughter, Jean Tripp, brothers, Clair and Charles Higgins and sister, Jeannette Halat.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Susan) Sztaba of Bergen and Richard (Linda) Sztaba of Batavia. Daughter, Maryann (David) Buelow of Batavia, OH.
