Marie B. Niles

Marie B. Niles, age 82 of Silver Springs, NY formerly of Castile, passed away on Sunday September 22, 2019 at Highland Hospital in Rochester.  She was born in Buffalo, NY on March 19, 1937 a daughter to the late Arthur “Jack” and Dorothy (Radder) Cady.

She was a 1955 graduate of East High School in Buffalo. In her teens Marie was a camp counselor for Camp Fire Girls, after graduation she worked as a long-distance telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. in downtown Buffalo. Marie worked as an inventory clerk for Fisher Price and Sears, but mostly worked in retail working for retailers Murphy’s 5 & 10, Grants, Sattler’s and Picture Island and retired from the former Champion Products Factory Outlet Store in Geneseo. A big part of her career was owning and operating Shado Lawn Dairy Farm in Delevan until 1976 and then Shado Lawn Strawberry Farm which later developed into Shado Lawn Farm Market in Castile with her late husband. In the fall the market became an attraction to many for the Pumpkin Tree they put together. After retirement she returned back to work working for Dollar Tree in Warsaw and for Letchworth State Park in camp contact.  Marie was a member of the NYS Federation of Home Bureau since 1971 in Machias, Gainesville and Perry. She enjoyed cake decorating, learning to do many crafts which she started but didn’t always finish, gardening, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Douglas (Ellen) Kelsey of Austin, TX., Mary “Peggy” (Jon Kersh) Gilbert of Arcade, Laurie (Ron) Falconer of Arcade, Joshua (Sandra) Kelsey of Boynton Beach, Fl., Michael (Margo Doughty) Niles of Perry, Nancy (Joseph) Cappadonia of Castile, siblings: Peg Germann of Cheektowaga, John (Bonnie) Cady of Rushford, Michael (Patricia) Cady of Cuba, Dorothy Krucynski of East Aurora, Randy (Maryann) Cady of SC., In-laws: Bernice (Raymond Burdick of Canaseraga, Amy (Duke) Bowman of Wyoming, Melvin (Marcia) Niles of Perry, Marvin (Ann) Niles of Warsaw, Pearl (Joseph) Eliasz of NJ, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband: Ervin A. Niles who passed away in 2015, son: Matthew H. Niles, grandchildren: Naish Cappadonia and Rachel Niles, and In-law: Louis Germann, Lois (David) Price.

Family and friends may call from 7-9pm on Friday Sept. 27th at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry and on Saturday Sept. 28th from 9-11am where funeral services will follow at 11am. She will be laid to rest in Siloam Cemetery in Freedom.
