Myron O. Lederhouse, 100, of Gasport, passed away peacefully on Sunday (April 6, 2014) at the Absolut Care of Gasport in Gasport, NY.

He was born in Lockport, NY on February 1, 1914, son of the late Oron and Myrta Lederhouse.

Myron was employed by General Motors in Lockport prior to his retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Patricia) Lederhouse of Akron and Gary (Carol) Lederhouse of Gasport.  He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather to share memories, thoughts and condolences on Thursday (April 10^th) from 12-2pm at the J. Orma L. Welker, 89, of Attica passed away Monday April 7, 2014 at Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw NY.  Orma was born in Auburn, NY to the late Walter and Zelda (Thomas) Hutchings.  She was the wife of the late Gordon Welker, sister of Robert (Norma) Hutchings of Northfield Illinois and the mother of  Linda (James) Yoder of Batavia.

She is preceded in death by her sons Gary and Jeffery.  Orma had four grandchildren; Paul (Kelly) Welker, Kimberly (Jeff) Lynk, Melissa Yoder and Gregory (Lindsay) Yoder, and three great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday April 11, 2014 from 10:00AM - 11:30AM at Marley Funeral Home, LLC.  She will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.

Daniel P. Chapman, 56, of Alexander passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014.  Born October 29, 1957 he was the son of the late Edmund and Wilma (Simmons) Chapman. Dan graduated from Alden High School in 1976.  He worked at Scott Aviation in Lancaster, NY for 23 years.  Dan enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  Dan was a loving and devoted husband.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and attending shows at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.  Dan took pride in his home and gardens.  He was an avid sports fan, especially the Lakers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Trudy (Iocco) Chapman of 25 years; brother, William (Patti Lewandowski) Chapman; his brothers and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, three great nieces and two great nephews.

Byron/Oakfield - Mrs. Peggy D. Wilson, 94, of Oakfield, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Highland Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Wilson was born August 7, 1919 in Reading, England, a daughter of the late William and Lilly Davis.  After immigrating to the United States, Lilly married George Patten.  George married Sally Perkins and Peggy cared lovingly for them in their older years.

A 66-year member of Byron Presbyterian Church, she taught Sunday school, weekday religion and vacation bible school.  She was a life member of the South Byron Fireman’s Auxiliary and a former Girl Scout troop leader in Byron.  She enjoyed quilting, crochet, knitting, cooking and gardening. 

Peggy and her mother arrived in the United States through Ellis Island on April 8, 1926. She and her mother became naturalized citizens in 1947.

Peggy and her husband raised two grandchildren, Tammy and Eric Taylor, whom provided her with lots of joy and love through the years.

Peggy enjoyed her last 10 years at School House Manor. She made many friendships and enjoyed being able to be independent.

Peggy was called “Grandma Peggy” by her daughter-in-laws family with great love and joy.

Peggy in recent years enjoyed to go out to eat with her family at Miss Batavia Diner. She was always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. During her illness Miss Batavia assisted the family with Peggy’s favorite drink to go, their Raspberry Ice Tea.

Her husband, Edgar B. Wilson, passed away on October 26, 2002.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Beth) Wilson of Byron and Dorothy Clement of  Kansas City, MO; several grandchildren including Tammy (Chip) Longabaugh of Slaterville, Kimberly (Devin) Borget of Lewiston, Karen (Rich) Volk of Oakfield; several great-grandchildren including Ashley Taylor of Rochester, Lisa Marie Taylor of Batavia, Sean McConnell of Slaterville, William Borget of Lewiston, Milo Volk of Oakfield; several great-great-grandchildren including Eli Rose Taylor of Rochester; and many  nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews and cousins. 

She was the grandmother of the late Eric D. Taylor, who passed away on January 5, 2001.

She was the great-grandmother to the late Stephanie Lynn Tooley, who passed away on September 25, 2003.

Linda K. Christbaum, 67 of Batavia, passed away on Friday April 4, 2014. She was born on December 8, 1946 in Ossining, NY to the late Arnold (Margaret Finnegan) Westcott. Mrs. Christbaum was the Robert Morris Elementary Art Teacher for 38 years and loved spending time still with her extended school family. She enjoyed sewing, weaving and being an artist. Linda traveled the world with her best friend and daughter Alexis.    

Mrs. Christbaum is survived by her husband Ronald Christbaum of Batavia; daughter Alexis Christbaum of Batavia and her brother John (Andrea) Westcott of Westminster, CO.

LeRoy ~ Anne A. Ingalls, age 87, passed away Wednesday evening (April 2, 2014) in the loving presence of her family at Unity Hospital after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

     Mrs. Ingalls was born May 24, 1927 in Rochester, N.Y., a daughter of the late Oliver and Alice Burns Cooper Sr.

     She will be remembered as a loving person who cared deeply for her family.  She loved to watch her grandchildren participate in sports.  She had a passion to watch football and enjoyed many activities which included crafts, crocheting and painting.

     Mrs. Ingalls is survived by her daughters, Karen (Alfred) Parks of LeRoy and Alice Ingalls of LeRoy, her grandchildren, Sandy Parks of LeRoy, Stephanie Parks of LeRoy and Brian (Julie) Ingalls of E. Bethany, great-grandchildren, Jeffrey James and Bethani James of LeRoy and Haley Ingalls and Kyle Ingalls of E. Bethany, a brother, Oliver (Grace) Cooper Jr. of LeRoy, a sister, Betty (Connie) Snyder of LeRoy, a sister-in-law, Janice Cooper of LeRoy, along with many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Harley Ingalls, and her siblings, Harriett Huntley, Franklin Cooper, Stanley, Walter and John Unamen and a grandson, Brian Ingalls Jr.

Mary V. Kelly, 91 of Perry, passed away on March 31, 2014 at her home. She was born in Batavia on May 9, 1922 to the late Frank (Sarah Kinney) Folk. Mrs. Kelly along with her husband owned and operated Folk & Kelly, Inc. in Perry. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church in Perry. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard A. Kelly and brother Casper Folk.

She is survived by her son Bruce (Sandra) Kelly, granddaughter Stefanie (Kyle) Tallman, great-grandsons Bryce and Parker Tallman all of Perry; sister Betty (Leo) Sulim of Winterhaven, FL, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jackie G. Schroeder, 62 of Castile, passed away on April 2, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Warsaw on April 21, 1951 to the late Adelbert (Agnes Armour) Kelly. Mrs. Schroeder worked at the Champion Company in Perry for 20 years, she cooked at Warsaw Elementary for 12 years, and she ran the cafeteria at the Wyoming Country Fair, along with bartending and cooking at the VFW for 25 years. Jackie was a longtime member of the VWF Ladies Auxiliary. She was a fantastic caretaker, devoted grandmother, always cooking, baking and she was very passionate about taking care of her family. She is preceded in death by a brother-in-law Elwood Claude.

She is survived by her beloved husband Rick Schroeder of Castile; sons Jeremy (Jennifer) of Silver Springs; Timothy (Naomi) of Castile; Shawn (Christine) of Short Track; Shane (Kelly) Schroeder of Rossburg; sister Jean Claude of Perry Center; brother James (Cheryl) Kelly of FL; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Betty J. Bauer, 85 of Perry, passed away on March 31, 2014 at Wyoming County Community Hospital. She was born in West Babylon, New York on September 30, 1928 to the late Orville (Alfreda Mason) Sears. Mrs. Bauer was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Perry and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed baking her famous apple pies, knitting and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was the #1 Rusty Wallace fan and liked watching NASCAR races. She is preceded in death by her brother Raymond Sears and sister Virginia Sears.

She is survived by her beloved husband Frederick Bauer Sr.; sons Frederick (Kathleen) Bauer Jr. of Perry; Larry (Sandra) Bauer of Hamburg; 4 grandchildren Kimberley (Scott) Rozanski, Karen (Todd) Shuskey, Bradley (Caitlyn) Bauer, Bethany (Andrew) Bukowinski, 7 great-grandchildren Kaileen, Hannah, Gabrielle, Jessica, Chloe, McKenna & Benjamin, along with many nieces and nephews.

IRENE MAY CLARK – daughter of Thomas and Linda (Neuburger) Clark of Batavia, died Thursday January 23, 2014 at her home in Brewer, Maine. She was 37. Irene was born October 10, 1976 in Albany, New York.

Batavia – Walter R. Lang, Sr., 85, of Batavia, entered into rest Tuesday, (March 25, 2014) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Walter Lang was born August 6, 1928 in Batavia, a son of the late Georg and Anna (Gauger) Lang.  Walter graduated from Batavia High School and was a lifelong resident of Batavia.

Over the years, Walt used his masonry skills to help numerous family members, friends, and neighbors to beautify their homes.  He was a life time member of the New Apostolic Church of Batavia and was proud to have volunteered his time and talents in helping to construct the church itself.

Walter served his country honorably with the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.  He was assigned to the occupation force in Europe for the majority of his term of duty due to his ability to speak fluent German.  This good fortune helped him to return home without serious injury. 

Prior to his army service he worked as a machinist for Massey Harris. Following his discharge he became a plasterer and union mason employed by George Stratton Contracting.  For the final 26 years of his career Walt worked for the Genesee County Highway Department where he continued to use his masonry skills.  He retired in 1998.

He is the husband of Elizabeth (Kies) Lang, whom he married October 16, 1955.

Along with his wife, Walter is survived by his children, Walter (Susan) Lang, Jr. of  Batavia, David (Christina) Lang of Southbury, CT, and Gregory (Eileen) Lang of Lancaster; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lang of Buffalo, Erin Lang of Batavia, David B. Lang, Meredith Lang and Kevin Walter Lang all of Buffalo, Nicholas Lang and Evan Lang both of Lancaster; a brother, Ernest (Shirley) Lang of Stafford; a sister, Ruth (late Herbert) Hemry of Bergen; and a brother-in-law, Fred Born of Rochester.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.  

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Born and Lydia Lang. 

There will be no prior visitation.  Walter’s memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday (April 5, 2014) at the New Apostolic Church, 314 Pine Ridge Road Cheektowaga.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  Those wishing to may make memorial contributions to the Batavia VA Medical Center, 222 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, NY 14020.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia.

Stafford ~ Joshua Ian Mouery, age 16, of Main Road, passed away unexpectedly at home on

Sunday (March 30, 2014).

     He was born February 13, 1998 in Batavia, a son of Frank Mouery and Michelle Scharlau Mouery.

      Joshua, who was a sophomore at LeRoy Central School, was active in many sports growing up.  He loved track, bowling, lacrosse, soccer and swimming.  He also had a passion for computers and cooking.  It was his intention to attend BOCES in his Junior year to follow through with his interest in culinary arts.

      He is survived by his mom, Shell Mouery (Jim Wilson) of Stafford, his dad Frank Mouery of Buffalo, a brother, John Macan of TX, nephew, Eli Saile of Batavia, maternal grandmother, Margaret Meisner, paternal grandmother, Lucille Mouery, maternal aunts, Lynne (Roy) of Ithaca and Melissa (Pierce) Thompson of NC, maternal Uncles, David Scharlau of GA and Scott (Barb) Scharlau of Cheektowaga, a paternal aunt, Jackie (Balta) Mejia  of Hamburg, special "Uncles", Bruce Scofield and Dan Galliford, along with many other dear relatives.

Bergen ~ Daisy E. Freeman, age 99, formerly of Peachey Road, passed away Saturday morning (March 29, 2014) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     Mrs. Freeman was born March 12, 1915 in Pavilion, a daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret Dickens Gleber.

     Her love of family and her faith in the Lord was always evident.  She was passionate about providing a loving home for her seven children, as well as, donating her time to her church community.

     She is survived by her children; Thomas Freeman of Ocala, FL, Judy Acker of Byron, William (Jeanne) Freeman of Byron, James (Jacklin) Freeman of Bergen, Karen (Thomas) Copeland of Byron and Jeffrey (Bridget) Freeman of Eustis, FL; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Darrell Freeman Sr., a son, Darrell Freeman Jr., a son-in-law, Al Acker and her 6 siblings.

     Mrs. Freeman's family wish to extend their appreciation to the staff of the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home for their kindness and attention to their mom's care; and also a special thank you to her church family, for their loving support and prayers that they have offered to mom and her family.

Bernice A. Sergel, 89 of Attica, passed away on Saturday March 29, 2014 at Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born October 24, 1924 in Jamestown to the late Carver (Roxybelle Myers) Anderson. Mrs. Sergel was a former member of the Attica Baptist Church. She loved flowers, plants, gardening and fishing. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Sergel who passed away on March 10, 1987; brothers Ellis & Frederick Anderson; sisters Helen Smyers, Viola Freitag, & Anna Stevens; grandson Paul Sergel; sons-in-law David Kerr and George Konieczny.

She is survived by her sons Jack (Mary Jane) Sergel of Attica; Bruce (Rita) Sergel of Arkansas; daughters Virginia Kerr, Luann Konieczny both of Batavia; brothers Roger Anderson of SC; Kenneth (Ann) Anderson of NC; sister Bessie Tillotson of Syracuse; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy ~ Ethel (Waterman) Cain, age 94, formerly of Fargo Road, Stafford, passed away Wednesday morning (March 26, 2014) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

     Mrs. Cain was born February 26, 1920 in Stafford, a daughter of the late Morris and Bertha Hillabusch Waterman.

     She will be remembered as a true "Matriarch", with a very loving devotion to her family in her roles of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a wonderful cook, who made sure her family and guests were well fed when they visited.

     She is survived by her husband, Edward T. Cain of LeRoy, her sons; Gary (Sue) Culbertson of Richfield Springs, NY and Gordy Culbertson of Stafford, grandchildren; Dawn Culbertson, Lisa Culbertson, Charles Culbertson, Rebecca Forbes, Erin (James) Hall and Christian (Amy) Culbertson, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Gordon Waterman and Florence Gillett.
