One-car accident with injuries reported on Ellicott Street Road, Bethany, Mercy Flight dispatched

A one-car accident is reported in the 5400 block of Ellicott Street Road, Bethany. Bethany Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. The car is off the roadway. Mercy Flight is called to the scene. Alexander fire personnel will set up the landing zone and be the helicopter's ground contact.

UPDATE 8:11 a.m.: Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia has landed. The location is between Clapsaddle and Mayne roads.

UPDATE 8:19 a.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 8:31 a.m.: The transport via helicopter was done primarily as a precaution. The female driver fell asleep at the wheel. She suffered a cut on her head but was conscious and alert when help arrived.

Two-car accident with injuries reported on Lewiston Road

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 1246 Lewiston Road. Alabama Fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:37 p.m.: Mercy medics are transporting a patient to Strong Memorial Hospital. The Alabama assignment is back in service.

Vehicle reportedly hits tree on Sweetland Road

A car has reportedly struck a tree along Sweetland Road, between Transit and Roanoke roads. 

Unknown injuries. 

The vehicle may be smoking. 

Stafford fire and Mercy EMS responding. 

Bergen fire and Le Roy ambulance called to Riga accident

An accident involving a bulldozer and an ambulance that was responding to an emergency medical call is reported at Bovee and Brew roads in Riga. Bergen fire and Le Roy ambulance are responding. Extrication equipment will be needed. A Mercy medic rig will go to handle the original EMS call on nearby Johnson Road, which is also off Bovee.

UPDATE 9:38 a.m.: From our news partner 13WHAM -- Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies said a member of a Bergen ambulance crew was killed after the ambulance rear-ended a backhoe. The male died at the scene, deputies said. The other two members of the ambulance crew were transported to Monroe County Medical Center UMMC as a precaution. The backhoe driver was not injured. Authorities believe sun glare may have contributed to the accident. A portion of Bovee Road is shut down.

UPDATE 9:39 a.m.: A fire crew from Bethany is standing by in their hall in case needed in Le Roy. The Bergen crew involved in the accident was responding to a call in the 1300 block of Johnson Road, as mutual aid to Riga, at the time of the collision.

Accident with injuries reported on Lewiston Road, just north of Galloway Road, Batavia

An accident with injuries is reported on Lewiston Road, just north of Galloway Road. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:59 p.m.: The driver of a pickup truck clipped a driveway sealing truck, causing the pickup truck to lose a side mirror. The driver of the pickup truck, after stopping, may have suffered a fainting spell and he is being evaluated by Mercy medics. He was not injured in the accident, however.

Car crashes into tree, driver semi alert, at Wilkinson and Lear roads

A car crashed into a tree and the driver is "not completely alert" at Wilkinson and Lear roads. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 12:49 a.m.: Corfu Fire Department is called to assist East Pembroke. The driver is trapped inside the vehicle.

UPDATE 1:04 a.m.: Mercy Flight is hovering over the crash site, seeking an appropriate place to land. They are checking a field on Lear Road just south of the scene.

UPDATE 1:06 p.m.: Sheriff's deputies are on scene.

UPDATE 1:30 a.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to ECMC.

UPDATE 1:39 a.m.: The female driver left the roadway for an unknown reason and hit a tree. She was extricated and taken ECMC via Mercy Flight primarily for precautionary reasons, said Sgt. Eric K. Seppala. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

UPDATE 8 a.m.: The driver is identified as Jennifer D. Bisig, 38, of Hopkins Road, Batavia. She is listed in serious condition at ECMC. Investigators have yet to determine why her 2002 Saturn Vue left the roadway. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Single-car accident reported on Route 77 north of Thruway overpass

A one-car accident is reported on Route 77 just north of the Thruway overpass. A person is injured and bleeding. Pembroke and Indians Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 2:22 p.m.: The vehicle has minor damage. There was air-bag deployment, according to a responder.

Woman plows into transformer by mall parking lot downtown, causing power outage in the vicinity

A woman driving a sedan, trying to park in a handicapped space at the mall downtown, accidently hit the gas pedal and plowed into a transformer unit that is screened off by bricks. The impact damaged the unit. As a result, there's a power outage on the block, including JCPenney. The driver appears to be uninjured but authorities on scene are having her remain inside her car until National Grid arrives to be sure there are no live power lines that could harm her.

UPDATE 12:09 p.m.: National Grid is on scene. The woman was allowed to get out of her car and she walked to the ambulance so medics could evaluate her.

Car crash reported on Council House Road in Basom

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at 380 Council House Road, Basom. A male is inside the vehicle, possibly unconscious. Alabama Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. The location is just southeast of Lone Road.

UPDATE 5:01 p.m.: Mercy Flight responded to the scene.

UPDATE 5:04 p.m.: The helicopter has arrived and is preparing to land. The victim is a 59-year-old male who was unrestrained in the vehicle at the time of the crash and is now semiconscious.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 5:54 p.m.: The driver hit a tree stump and the vehicle overturned. He was taken by helicopter to ECMC primarily as a precaution. Charges are pending. The assignment is back in service.

Two-car collision with injuries reported on Indian Falls Road, Corfu

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 2023 Indian Falls Road, Corfu. At least one of the vehicles hit a tree. The location is between Airville and North Pembroke roads. East Pembroke Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. Three ambulances are called in.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: A landing zone is being established for Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 5:01 p.m.: One person was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight for precautionary reasons. Two others were transported to ECMC by ground ambulances. A fourth person is being evaluated at the scene.

UPDATE 5:11 p.m.: A spokesman at the scene said both vehicles involved are 2007 Honda Accords. One is gray and the other is black. Both drivers were male and each had one female passenger. The gray car was eastbound on Indian Falls Road and attempted to turn left into a driveway. It was struck by the westbound black Honda. The officer said the driver of the gray car will probably be cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Milk tanker and vehicle collide at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion

A tanker and another vehicle collided at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion. Unknown injuries. The tanker is on its side and heavily leaking fuel, according to the dispatcher. An emergency crew is called to handle the spill and Pavilion fire and Mercy medics are responding. Le Roy's rescue unit is also called to provide mutual aid.

UPDATE 5:25: The tanker is about 40 feet off the road. It was hauling 31,000 pounds of milk.
