Motorcyclist who struck deer still listed in critical condition at ECMC

The motorcycle driver who hit a deer on Pearl Street Road early Monday morning remains in critical condition at ECMC.

Brandon L. Scott, 23, of Darien, was westbound when a deer entered the roadway ahead of him and the front wheel of his bike struck the hindquarter of the deer.

Scott was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

He was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC. 

Scott was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The investigation is being conducted by Deputy Andrew Hale, Deputy Frank Bordonaro and Sgt. Eric Seppala. Assisting at the scene were members of the East Pembroke Fire Department and the Town of Batavia Fire Department along with Mercy EMS.

Motorcyclist down on Pearl Street Road

A motorcyclist is down in the roadway in the area of 3120 Pearl Street Road. A first responder reports possible serious injury.

East Pembroke and Mercy EMS dispatched.

Mercy Flight is dispatched. Three minute ETA.

UPDATE 5 a.m.: We didn't hear why, but Mercy Flight out of Olean is dispatched. Twenty-five minute ETA.

UPDATE: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 5:40 a.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne. Didn't hear its destination. The assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 6 a.m.: A motorcyclist was apparently westbound when it struck a deer. The point of impact was the deer's hindquarter. The front end of the Harley-Davidson was damaged. The rider's helmet showed signs of skidding. He was in and out of consciousness while being treated on scene. He was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC. Mercy Flight out of Batavia was not available this morning. The name of the rider has not yet been released. An eastbound motorist found the bike and the rider in the middle of the road and called emergency dispatchers.

Car vs. pedestrian accident on West Main Street in the city

A car / pedestrian accident is reported at 214 W. Main St. and city firefighters and Mercy medics are on scene. The pedestrian has a minor injury.

UPDATE 10:40 a.m.: City fire is back in service and the pedestrian is being taken to UMMC.

No injuries in accident, but pole and wires down on Route 77

There are reportedly no injuries, but there is a pole and wires down following an accident in the area of 6591 Alleghany Road, Alabama.

Alabama fire responding.

UPDATE 5:28 p.m.: There is now a report of injuries. Also, National Grid has been notified. The roadway is blocked.

Accident with injuries reported on West Main Street Road, Le Roy

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in the area 6852 W. Main Street Road, Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 9:08 p.m.: Mercy EMS also responding. Route 5 is being closed to eastbound traffic at Bater Road.

A two-car personal injury accident is reported at West Main and River streets in the city. Police, fire and Mercy medics are on scene.

Car hits pole in front of Burger King, Batavia

A car vs. pole accident in reported in the area of 230 W. Main St., Batavia.

That's in the area of the Burger King.

A person reports a possible neck injury.

There are also fluid leaks.

Batavia PD is on scene.

Batavia fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 9:48 a.m.: A second ambulance is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 10:20 a.m.: Engine 11 is back in service.

The driver of a tractor-trailer carrying steel beams said he was eastbound on West Main when he noticed the driver of the sedan pulling out of the Burger King parking lot. He said he could see the driver looking right, but he never looked left. The truck driver saw that the car driver was going to pull out into traffic without stopping. The truck driver was able to pull over into the inside lane. Even with the evasive maneuver, the car still caught the rear tire of the truck, spinning it into the utility pole. The truck driver thinks the accident would have been much worse if he hadn't moved over.

Rollover crash with possible entrapment on westbound Thruway

A one-vehicle rollover accident with possible entrapment is reported on the westbound Thruway at mile market 391. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Mercy Flight is available if needed.

UPDATE 12:16 p.m.: Two additional ambulances are called to the scene. Mercy Flight will not be needed.

UPDATE 12:29 p.m.: One patient is being transported to UMMC.

UPDATE 12:34 p.m.: A second patient is being taken to UMMC.

UPDATE 12:42 p.m.: The assignment is back in service.

Bicycle struck on Route 98 near Goodman Road

A bicycle has reportedly been struck on Route 98 near Goodman Road, Alexander.

Alexander fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

No word on injuries, if any.

UPDATE 8:54 a.m.: Mercy EMS response is cancelled. Alexander ambulance is on scene.

UPDATE 9:07 a.m.: Alexander fire clearing the scene. Alexander Ambulance transporting one to UMMC.

Car crash blocking traffic at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road, Batavia

A two-car accident is reported at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road. A caller at the scene reports no injuries. It is blocking traffic. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics for evaluation.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: Now one person is said to have a minor injury.

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: A patient is being transported to UMMC.

Two-car crash at North Byron and Transit roads, minor injuries

A two-car accident is reported at North Byron and Transit roads. Four people sustained minor injuries. Byron and South Byron firefighters are responding. Mercy medics are on scene.

UPDATE 11:07 a.m.: Elba Fire Police are called in.

UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: At least two people have been transported to UMMC.

Motorcycle wreck on Sumner Road near the sharp curve by Simonds Road

A motorcycle accident is reported on Sumner Road near the sharp turn at Simonds Road. The rider and his bike are in a ditch. Unknown injuries. Law enforcement is on scene. Darien fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:44 p.m.: Mercy Flight, although available, will not be needed, according to medics on scene.

UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: The subject has been transported to ECMC. The Darien assignment is back in service.

Two-car wreck with injuries at Griswold and West Bergen roads, Le Roy

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 7228 Griswold Road. It's at the intersection of Griswold and West Bergen roads. LeRoy fire and medics are en route.

UPDATE 5:19 p.m.: A responder on scene reports that there is one minor injury.

UPDATE 5:46 p.m.: Medics are back in service; there was no patient transport.

UPDATE 6:02 p.m.: The Le Roy assignment is back in service.
