Reader-submitted photo of an accident this morning around 5:45 a.m. on Ellicott Street just west of Jackson Street, Batavia.

The SUV was occupied by eight people, all returning home to Niagara Falls from vacation, police told our news partner, WBTA.

At least two people were sent to the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

The vehicle was westbound when it veered off the roadway, struck two street signs and a light pole before crashing into the tree.

Person has leg trapped in equipment at business in Le Roy

Mercy Flight is being dispatched to a location on Gilbert Street for an apparent industrial accident at a local business.

The first report was a man's leg was trapped in a conveyor belt, then in an elevator.

The patient is conscious and alert.

The location is PCOR, 135 Gilbert St., Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance responded. Le Roy PD on scene.

UPDATE 10:23 a.m.: Mercy Flight won't be necessary. The aircraft's response is canceled.

Car-into-tree accident reported on Clinton Street Road

A car crashed into a tree at 5038 Clinton Street Road near Stringham Drive. Unknown injuries. Town of Batavia firefighters and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 12:44 p.m.: One person inside is conscious and alert but may need extrication.

UPDATE 12:49 p.m.: The driver struck a couple of parked vehicles as well. Mercy EMS is attending to him now. Possible medical issue.

Head-on collision, believed with a serious injury, reported in Alabama

A head-on collision is reported on Ledge Road, just west of Maple Road, Alabama, with a possible serious injury.

Mercy Flight on ground standby.

One person believed injured.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 1:13 p.m.: Two vehicles involved. One blocking, the other in the woods. Possible medical condition.

Pile-up reported on westbound Thruway, Le Roy responding

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported on the westbound Thruway at mile marker 384.5. Four or five vehicles are involved. Le Roy fire and ambulance service are responding.

Fully involved car fire reported after accident on Route 77 at Ledge Road, Alabama

A fully involved car fire is reported after a two-vehicle accident on Route 77 at Ledge Road, Alabama.

There are injuries

Vehicles are blocking.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 7:28 p.m.: A second ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 7:36 p.m.: Alabama and Pembroke fire police requested to the scene.

UPDATE 7:52 p.m.: An ambulance from Medina is on scene.

Accident blocking traffic at Wortendyke and Route 5

A motor-vehicle accident, "believed to be with injuries," is reported at West Main Street Road (Route 5) and Wortendyke Road. It is blocking traffic. East Pembroke Fire Department, Mercy medics and Sheriff's deputies are responding.

UPDATE 2:06 p.m.: A first responder on scene says the accident is not blocking traffic and that all occupants are out of the vehicles.

UPDATE 2:08 p.m.: East Pembroke told they can stand down. Mercy medics are on scene but an officer says "Everybody here's going to be a sign-off."

Accident with injuries reported on Alexander Road, Batavia

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 9169 Alexander Road, Batavia. There is one person complaining of dizziness. The location is near Pike Road. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding along with an ambulance from Bethany; no other ambulance service is currently available.

Driver injured after striking construction trailer parked in roadway

A 37-year-old Corfu resident was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC yesterday morning after her car struck a parked construction trailer on Hopkins Road, Pembroke, at 8:18 a.m.

The trailer was parked partially in the roadway and it may have been difficult for Lori Schwab to see in the early morning sun as she came over a rise in a hill, according to investigators.

She was driving a 2009 Chevy sedan.

The trailer is registered to B&B Paving and Excavating, of Middleport. It wasn't attached to another vehicle at the time of the accident.

The owner was cited for alleged parking or standing on a main traveled paved roadway.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Accident on Hopkins Road, Pembroke

A  motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported on the area of 8015 Hopkins Road, Pembroke.

Pembroke fire and Indian Falls fire, with Mercy EMS, dispatched.

The roadway is blocked.

One patient is on the ground, on the lawn. A chief is asking for the availability of Mercy Flight.

Four ambulances responding to accident on eastbound Thruway, Le Roy fire on scene

A motor-vehicle accident(s) occurred on the eastbound Thruway in the area of mile marker 379.9. Le Roy Fire Department is on scene and there's one ambulance there. Three more ambulances are called in to two sites in the vicinity of the crash. Caledonia ambulance is secured along with two Mercy rigs.

Car into building at Dollar General in Le Roy

Semi rollover reported on the eastbound Thruway

A tractor-trailer rollover accident is reported on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 394.6. The vehicle landed on its side in the median. It is a refrigeration unit and its cargo is not known at this time. Unknown injuries. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. 

UPDATE 5:49 a.m.: No injuries.

Photos: Vehicle crash site found in Pavilion this afternoon

These are photos from the accident scene discovered after-the-fact in Pavilion this afternoon. A deceased male victim, who is not from Genesee County, was found inside the wreckage.

It remains unknown when the accident occurred. The Genesee County Sheriff's Office expects to put out a press release on the incident later. The family has already been notified.

UPDATE 9:50 p.m.: The victim is identified as Gregory A. Walters, 29, of Marilla. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. The accident was reported at 2:58 p.m. The time of the accident remains unknown. The accident investigation is being conducted by Deputy Ryan DeLong, Deputy Richard Schildwaster and Investigator Chad Minuto. Assisting at the scene were State Police, Pavilion fire, Mercy EMS, Coroner Tom Douglas.

Investigators at Pavilion scene of car that crashed, unknown when, body still inside

A farmer working in his field in Pavilion spotted a car wrapped around a tree this afternoon and approached it. He saw a body inside and found it was cold to the touch. He called 9-1-1.

Now Pavilion Fire Department, troopers, and investigators for the Genesee County Sheriff's Office are on scene.

It is unknown at this point when the accident happened. The location is near Route 20 and South Road. The vehicle is not readily visible from the roadway. It is down a ravine, off the north shoulder of the roadway.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m. (By Howard): At the scene. We'll need to confirm a farmer or other passerby found the wreck. The victim is a male who is not from Genesee County.
