School bus and big rig collide on West Main Street Road

A school bus and a tractor-trailer have collided at 3299 W. Main St. Road. The school bus is on its side. Injuries unknown. There is one student and the bus driver and they are both out of the vehicle. East Pembroke Fire Department is responding along with Mercy EMS. Oakfield and Darien are asked to stand by in quarters along with Town of Batavia firefighters. Mercy Flight is put on standby. This is west of Wortendyke Road.

UPDATE 12:16 p.m.: Wortendyke at Route 5 is closed, along with Route 5 at Hopkins Road. Sheriff's deputies are rerouting traffic until fire police can respond. Mercy Flight will not be needed. The Pembroke school district has already called a tow truck for the bus.

UPDATE 12:18 p.m.: The semi's driver is also out of his vehicle. Response from Oakfield, Darien and Town of Batavia is cancelled.

UPDATE 12:22 p.m.: The two adults will be sign-offs. There is one pediatric patient to be transported to the hospital.

UPDATE 12:29: "Until we get the bus on its wheels, the road's going to be closed for awhile." Meanwhile, truck traffic is backing up. A State Trooper is responding to the scene.

UPDATE 12:43 p.m.: The child is being taken to UMMC.

UPDATE 1:35 p.m.: The roadway is reopened. All units clear.

Driver allegedly made improper left turn, leading to accident in the city

A driver was cited for alleged improper left turn following an accident in Batavia at 11:47 a.m., Wednesday at the intersection of Porter Avenue and Washington Avenue that injured two people.

Iris F. Hatcher, 37, of 23 Porter Ave., Batavia, was driving a PT Cruiser west on Washington Avenue and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Porter. A Ford hatchback was on Washington Avenue and collided with the Cruiser.

Also injured was Linda M. Clemens, 51, of 11 Mix Place, Batavia.

Both Hatcher and Clemens were transported to UMMC.

Two-car crash with injuries at Washington and Porter in the city

A two-car accident with two injured victims is reported at Washington and Porter avenues in the city. It is blocking traffic. Mercy medics and law enforcement are on scene and firefighters are responding.

UPDATE 12:03 p.m.: A female is being taken to UMMC with a complaint of right ankle pain.

UPDATE 12:10 p.m.: A 37-year-old female is also going to UMMC with complaints of tenderness in her abdomen and on her face. There was air-bag deployment in her vehicle and she was seat belted.

UPDATE 12:48 (by Howard): A witness, Leonard Johnson, said he saw the PT Cruiser trying to make a left-hand turn from Porter Avenue onto Washington and the Ford Focus hit the Cruiser. He said it was a pretty hard impact. "It wasn't a good accident," he said.

Truck involved in accident with injuries on Route 77, Pembroke

A motor vehicle accident with injuries has been reported on Route 77 in front of the T/A Travel Plaza.

A semi-truck is involved and the side-saddle gas tank is reportedly leaking.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched.

UPDATE 9:29 a.m.: Akron Fire requested mutual aid with a pumper. Also, ambulances requested from Akron and Darien. All Mercy EMS ambulances are tied up on calls.

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: Three patients. No entrapment. Hazmat situation with leaking diesel fuel. All available manpower from Corfu Fire Department requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:39 a.m.: Fuel leak of 30 to 40 gallons is contained.

UPDATE 9:45 a.m.: Darien's ambulance can stand down.

UPDATE 10:01 a.m.: Patients being transported.

UPDATE 10:15 a.m.: All units back in service. Route 77 reopened. Two patients transported by Akron to Millard Suburban and one by Mercy EMS to Children's.

Driver suffers minor injury after car hits utility pole, overturns on Route 19, Bergen

A driver reportedly said she took a turn too fast causing her to lose control of the vehicle, hit a utility pole and overturn at 5:01 p.m. on Route 19 near Creamery Road.

Wendy S. Harrington, 52, of Clinton Street, Bergen, was entrapped in the vehicle but suffered only minor injuries. She was transported by Mercy EMS to Strong Memorial Hospital.

No citations are listed on the accident report.

Harrington was driving a 2003 Ford SUV.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Matthew Butler.

No students hurt when bus hit during stop on Batavia Elba Townline Road

No children were injured this morning when the school bus they were on was hit by a car that had been rear-ended by another vehicle.

The driver who hit the stopped vehicle blamed sun glare for lack of visibility but was cited for allegedly following too closely.

The school bus was actively involved in loading a passenger, according to the accident report, and the driver, Jessica Ann Naas, 46, of Lockport Road, Oakfield, had not turned on the bus stop lights.

The bus was stopped at 3800 Batavia Elba Townline Road at 7:14 a.m.

Cited for allegedly tailgating was Alec Richmond Seppala, 18, of Drake Street, Oakfield.

Seppala's 2001 Pontiac sedan hit a 1998 Nissan sedan driven by Steven R. Koneski, 32, of Salt Works Road, Medina.

Koneski suffered a minor injury and was transported to UMMC.

There were 15 students on the bus, ages 13 to 17.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker.

Rollover accident reported earlier on Route 19 near Peachy Road, Bergen

While we were off-line: At about 4:38 p.m., Bergen Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a one-vehicle rollover accident with entrapment. The car reportedly struck a pole before rolling over. Route 19 between Creamery and Peachy roads was closed for more than an hour. There were no serious injuries.

Four people, including two children, hurt in three-car accident in Le Roy on Tuesday

Four people were injured in a three-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Route 19 at Seldon Road, Le Roy.

Karen S. Samis, 46, of South Street Road, Le Roy, said she was distracted by something while driving north on Route 19 and didn't see a vehicle slowing to stop for a left-hand turn onto Seldon Road.

Samis's 2008 Chevy van struck a 2000 Chevy van driven by Tonya L. Jackson, 35, of Main Street, Le Roy, causing it to hit a truck in the southbound lane of Route 19.

That 2009 Chevy pickup was driven by Christopher P. Ward, 47, of Hardwood, Lane, Rochester. He was not injured.

Samis and Jackson were both transported to UMMC by ambulance as were Adam R. Jackson, 10, and Justin A. Jackson, 7. None of the injuries were serious.

Samis was cited for allegedly following too closely.

The accident was investigated by Deputy John Duyssen.

Three-car crash on Route 19 north of Peachy Road, Bergen

A three-car accident is reported north of Peachy Road on Route 19 in Bergen. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. There is air-bag deployment and fluids are leaking. It is blocking traffic.

Fire police are requested to Route 19 and Creamery Road.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.: Two flatbed tow trucks are called.

UPDATE 1:01 p.m.: Correction: No one was transported, patients were sign-offs.

Big rig yanks down lines on Route 33 in Bergen

A motor vehicle accident is reported on Route 33 in Bergen. Bergen Fire Police are asked to shut down traffic at Route 33 and School Road, and Route 33 at West Bergen Road. Mercy medics and the Bergen Fire Department are also responding.

UPDATE 3:31 p.m.: This accident involved a tractor-trailer from Ontario, Canada, and it tore down some power lines, which National Grid is working to repair.

UPDATE 3:44 p.m.: The roadway is reopened.

Car crash at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion

A motor vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Route 20 and Perry Road. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. A flatbed tow is requested for a 2006 Toyota Corolla with front-end damage.

A motorcycle accident with injuries is reported at the corner of Walnut and South Main streets. City firefighters, police and Mercy EMS are responding.

Motorcyclist hurt in crash in Bergen

A motorcyclist who attempted to pass two vehicles on Route 19 at 7:43 p.m., Thursday, was injured after his bike struck a car attempting to turn left onto Gibson Street, Bergen.

Dudley C. Kuyal, 49, of Fancher Road, Holley, was transported by ground ambulance to Lakeside Memorial Hospital.

Kuyal was northbound on Route 19 when he apparently tried to pass two other northbound vehicles. The lead car pulled in front of his bike while initiating a left-hand turn.

That car was driven by Robert C. Douglas Jr., 49, of Gibson Street, Bergen.

Douglas was not injured in the accident.

Deputy James Diehl, who investigated the accident, wrote in his report that charges are pending.

Car crash with injuries near Cohocton Road, Corfu

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 9049 Alleghany Road. The location is just north of Cohocton Road near the village line. Corfu Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics and law enforcement.

UPDATE 12:53 p.m.: The cars are off the roadway. Injuries are minor. Law enforcement has left the scene.

UPDATE 1:27 p.m.: A 57-year-old man is being taken to UMMC with complaints of neck and lower back pain. This accident occurred when one vehicle rear-ended another. He was a driver.

Driver suffers minor injuries after car strikes utility pole on Route 5, Le Roy

A 31-year-old driver from Le Roy suffered minor injuries Wednesday night after his car hit a utility pole, mailbox and a parked car on Route 5 at York Road.

No citations are listed on the accident report, but Christopher L. Hyde, of Church Street, reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign when coming off northbound York Road.

His vehicle traveled through the intersection and struck the pole, mailbox and a car parked in the driveway of the residence at 8523 E. Main Road.

The accident was reported at 8:18 p.m.

Hyde was transported to UMMC with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Vehicle on fire, possible serious injury following accident on Bloomingdale Road, Basom

A car reportedly hit a dump truck and is on fire in the area of 1151 Bloomingdale Road, Basom.

Initially, there was reported entrapment, but now dispatchers have been told the person is out of the vehicle, but is seriously injured.

Mercy Flight is in route with an eight minute ETA.

Alabama Fire Department and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 8:58 a.m.: Mercy Flight in route to ECMC.

UPDATE 9:58 a.m.: Alabama fire back in service.

UPDATE 11:29 a.m. (Photos and information provided by Alicia Kaus): The pickup truck was driven by Charles Scorse, 22, of Hamlin. Scorse was reportedly heading to the reservation to buy cigarettes after working all night in Greece and he fell asleep. His truck hit a Waste Management garbage truck that was stopped to pick up residential trash. The WM worker told Scorse to get out of his vehicle, that it was on fire. Scorse managed to get out, stumble across the road and collapse. The truck then burst into flames. He was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC. The WM worker was uninjured.

Car has reportely struck parked tractor-trailer on North Street, Le Roy

A small car has reportedly struck a parked tractor-trailer in the area of 76 North St.,  Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 9:32 p.m.: A second ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 10:06 p.m.: Caledonia ambulance transporting a patient. Le Roy fire on scene until car is towed.

UPDATE 10:23 p.m.: Le Roy back in service. Road reopened.

Possible serious injury accident at Route 20 and Harlow Road, Darien

A possible serious injury accident is reported in Darien at Route 20 and Harlow Road.

Darien Fire Department and Mercy EMS are being dispatched.

Mercy Flight is available if needed.

UPDATE 10:01 a.m.: Mercy Flight on in-air standby. There may be as many as four people injured. Unknown how many are trapped in vehicles.

UPDATE 10:06 a.m.: First chief on scene reports all occupants out of the vehicle. Only minor injuries. Mercy Flight is cancelled.

UPDATE 11 a.m.: At least one patient being transported to UMMC. Some fire units back in service. Some personnel on scene to help with traffic until vehicles moved.

UPDATE 11:03 a.m.: All units back in service.
