One vehicle rollover accident reported on Thurway

One person is believed still in the vehicle after a one-car rollover accident on the Thruway near mile marker 290.8.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 3:12 a.m.: One occupant, out of the vehicle, declining medical treatment.

UPDATE 3:26 a.m.: Town of Batavia back in service.

Injured female in Darien requires Mercy Flight aid

Mercy Flight is called to the Darien Fire Hall to aid a female. Medics are on scene. Mercy Flight out of Batavia will respond; no ETA given.

UPDATE 9:07 p.m.: The only further information I have is that this is a motorcycle vs. pedestrian accident and the pedestrian was injured. It happened near tonight's sold-out country concert at Darien Lake.

UPDATE 2:40 a.m. (By Howard): Jessica Freeman, 23, of Rochester, was a passenger in a vehicle, according to a State Police release, in the northbound lane of Route 77. The vehicle was stopped in heavy traffic when Freeman got out of the vehicle and attempted to cross Route 77. Troopers say she "ran directly into the path of a motorcylcle operated by Frank Pfalzer, 35, of Akron." Freeman was flown to ECMC. She suffered head and facial injuries. Pfalzer was not injured and not charged.

Dirt-bike accident in Pembroke

A dirt-bike accident is reported 1858 Main Road in Pembroke. The location is between Boyce and Cleveland roads. A rider is down and has trouble breathing. Mercy Flight out of Buffalo is flying to the scene, described as way off the roadway, on or near the railroad bed.

UPDATE 3:13 p.m.: East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The fire crews will use four-wheelers to access the site and set up the landing zone.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: There are two victims. One is a 15-year-old girl being taken to UMMC by Mercy medics. She has a right eye injury. The landing zone is set and the bird is three minutes out. The other patient is a male who is conscious but has a head injury.

UPDATE 3:22 p.m.: Mercy Flight will be transporting to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 3:26 p.m.: Mercy Flight landed two minutes ago.

UPDATE 3:37 p.m.: Mercy Flight is headed to ECMC.

UPDATE 3:42 p.m.: East Pembroke is back in service.

Two-car crash at East Main and Harvester, no injuries but blocking

A two-car accident, which is blocking traffic, is reported at East Main Street and Harvester Avenue. City police are on scene and city fire and Mercy medics are responding. No injuries.

UPDATE 2:37 p.m.: Now they say there are three vehicles involved.

UPDATE 2:57 p.m.: City fire is back in service.

Tractor-trailer strikes overpass on Cedar Street

A tractor-trailer has struck the railroad overpass on Cedar Street. Batavia police are responding.

UPDATE 7:38 p.m.: The vehicle has Oklahoma tags. Howard, who went and took a photo, says the top of the rig "was peeled back like a sardine can."

Two teens injured in ATV accident in Alexander

Two teenagers were taken to ECMC today after an ATV they were on while crossing Day Road was struck by a car.

One patient was transported by Mercy Flight.

Injured where Manual Cruz-Santiago, 15, and Vanessa Caswell, 17.

Their medical status is not currently available.

According to an accident report by Deputy Cory Mower, Cruz-Santiago and Caswell were struck on Day Road near Sprague Road by a southbound car driven by Jennifer L. Shaw, 27, of Dodgeson Road, Alexander.

No citations were issued following the accident, which was reported at 10:45 a.m.

Mercy Flight dispatched to two accidents in Genesee County this morning

An ATV rider was reportedly struck by a car on Day Road north of Sprague Road, Alexander, at 10:45 a.m.

Alexander Fire Department responded to the call and Mercy Flight was dispatched at 10:55 a.m. and the patient was flown to ECMC at 11:15 a.m..

No further information has been released yet.

At 11:31 a.m., a car went over a guard rail on Route 19 just south of North Road. Le Roy Fire and Le Roy Ambulance were dispatched. A Mercy Flight bird out of Canandaigua was dispatched to this call.

Accident blocking Lewiston Road and West Main Street

A two-car accident is reported at Lewiston Road and West Main Street.

Law enforcement is on scene, reporting no apparent injuries, though air bags were deployed.

The accident is blocking.

Town of Batavia fire dispatched.

UPDATE: One patient was transported to UMMC with minor injuries.

Man succombs to injuries following one-car accident on Shanks Road, Alabama

The Sheriff's Office is investigating a Monday evening accident in the Town of Alabama that claimed the life of a 64-year-old resident of Akron.

Stanley J. Myka, of Bloomingdale Road, was pronounced dead at UMMC after the 2008 PT Cruiser he was driving left the roadway on Shanks Road and struck a utility pole.

No cause for the accident has been determined.

The accident was reported at at 7:16 p.m.

Myka, who reportedly suffered head and internal injuries, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The investigation is being conducted by Deputy Patrick Reeves and Deputy Kevin McCarthy. Assisting at the scene were the Alabama Volunteer Fire Department, Indian Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, Mercy EMS and Mercy Flight.

Car into pole accident with head injury in Alabama

A motor vehicle struck a pole and a male has a head injury at Shanks and Sand Hill roads -- on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 7:25 p.m.: "He's bleeding pretty good," says a medic. Mercy Flight is called to the scene. A unit from Indian Falls Fire Department is also requested.

UPDATE 7:25 p.m.: Fire police are told to block traffic at Bloomingdale Avenue and Shanks Road. Pembroke Fire Department is also responding. Mercy Flight has a five-minute ETA.

UPDATE 7:34 p.m.: Responders are working to secure the scene. Mercy Flight will arrive momentarily and hover in the air until it's OK to land. The update from medics to the pilot is that the victim is about 60. He is unconscious, and has head, abdominal and leg injuries. They are still working to extricate the victim.

UPDATE 7:40 p.m.: The patient has been extricated. He was a passenger in the front seat. The landing zone is secure and the bird will land soon.

UPDATE 7:44 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on the ground.

UPDATE 7:46 p.m.: Notifications have already been made to National Grid, which has damages to Pole #7470, and Verizon, which has a cable box there that's above ground and is "completely knocked over."

UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne. Not sure of its destination.

UPDATE 8:08 p.m.: Apparently, there is a second victim, presumably the driver. He is also described as being 60-ish and is being being taken to UMMC by ambulance with head trauma and either in cardiac arrest or with a history of cardiac arrest. (CLARIFICATION: There was only one occupant in the vehicle.)

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: Indian Falls is back in service.

UPDATE 8:30 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.

Bicycle accident at State and Park Avenue, Batavia

A youth riding a bicycle has had an accident in the city at State Street and Park Avenue. Police and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 1:54 p.m.: City fire was responding, but told they could cancel the response.

UPDATE 1:57 p.m.: Police are back in service.

UPDATE 2:04 p.m.: Medics went back in service several minutes ago. Although this was initially called in as a car vs. bicycle accident, no vehicle was involved.

Motorcycle and car crash, serious injuries, Elba

A rider is down in the road and not moving following a car and motorcycle crash at 4575 Barrville Road in Elba. Two ambulances -- a Mercy rig and one from Oakfield -- are called to respond and Mercy Flight as well. The accident is blocking traffic and injuries are serious.

UPDATE 6:33 p.m.: A second helicopter is requested. A portion of Barrville Road is being shut down.

UPDATE 6:38 p.m.: The location is between Bridge Road and Chapel Street. The second helicopter is directed to the scene, to land between two homes, for the more seriously injured patient.

UPDATE 6:43 p.m.: One bird has landed safely and the other one is going to land at the ARC facility's parking lot.

UPDATE 6:46 p.m.: Elba Fire Department is on scene as are fire police.

UPDATE 6:49 p.m.: The first helicopter is airborne to Strong Memorial Hospital with the most seriously injured patient -- the rider. The second bird is about 5 minutes out from the landing zone at the ARC parking lot and will be transporting a 20-year-old female who has an extremely severe slash at the joint on her right knee. She had no loss of consciousness.

UPDATE 6:58 p.m.: The second Mercy Flight ship has landed safely.

UPDATE 7:07 p.m.: The second helicopter is airborne and also headed to Strong.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: The Oakfield ambulance is inbound to UMMC with a 9-year-old girl who has cuts on her wrist, arm, knee and ankle as well as back and neck pain. She is accompanied by her mother, who was not injured in the accident. The child was a passenger in the backseat on the driver's side of the vehicle, which was struck from behind by the motorcycle.

UPDATE 7:42 p.m.: The motorcycle is still in the roadway and fire police are remaining on scene until it's removed. The bike is said to be a 1999 yellow Honda, registered to a man in Penn Yan.

UPDATE 8:03 p.m.: The road is reopened. Elba is back in service.

Two-car accident at West Main and Redfield Parkway

A two-car accident that is blocking traffic is reported at West Main Street and Redfield Parkway. A pregnant female is said to have a minor injury. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

A 23-year-old driver in her seventh month of pregnancy is being taken to UMMC with a complaint of lower back pain. Her vehicle was rear-ended by another car. She was seat-belted.

UPDATE 3:27 p.m.: A second ambulance that was called is taking two females to UMMC. The 29-year-old driver has arm pain and a laceration. A 5-year-old has right cheek and chin pain.

Car crash at West Main Street and Porter Avenue in the city

A two-car accident with a minor injury -- reportedly neck pain -- is reported at West Main Street and Porter Avenue in the city. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:39 p.m.: City fire is back in service. One patient was transported to UMMC.

One-vehicle rollover, minor injuries, on Rogers Road in Pavilion

A one-vehicle rollover accident with minor injuries is reported at 7104 Rogers Road in Pavilion. The location is between Perry Road and the interchange of routes 19 and 20. Mercy medics and Pavilion Fire Department are responding.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m.: Medics are told to respond in non-emergency mode. There are two very minor injuries and "it looks like they will be sign-offs."

Teen suffers head injury in dirt bike accident

A 19-year-old male has suffered a head injury in a dirt bike accident at Area 51. Mercy medics, a Sheriff's deputy and firefighters are responding. The track is located on Harloff Road in the Town of Batavia.

Handicapped shopper struck by car in Tops parking lot, Le Roy

A patron of Tops Market in Le Roy, who was in a cart for the handicapped, was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot and there are injuries. Le Roy fire and Mercy medics are responding. The store is located at 128 W. Main St.

Motorcycle accident with possible serious injuries reported on Lewiston Road, Batavia

A motorcycle accident with injuries has been reported in the area of 7810 Lewiston Road.

A state trooper on scene requests an expedited ambulance response.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS responding. Mercy Flight being put on in-air standby.

UPDATE 9:02 a.m.: The motorcyclist was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC with neck, back, hip and leg injuries.

It appears that the bike rider and a red pickup were southbound and according to Trooper John Szymkowiak, the pickup driver came over the crest of the hill just south of Townline Road and apparently did not see the motorcycle.

The truck struck the bike from behind and the bike with the rider under the bike was propelled, skidding on its side, more than 200 feet down the asphalt.

Szymkowiak said that according to witnesses, the motorcycle was not slowing prior to be struck.

“The motorcyclist was conscious at the scene and he stated he was not slowing or stopping," Szymkowiak said.

Charges are pending against the truck driver, according to Szymkowiak.

"(The motorcyclist is) very lucky at this point," Szymkowiak said. "Any time there’s a motorcycle crash and you’re hit by a truck you’re very lucky to come out of it alive."

Child with neck injury after two-car collision in Pembroke

An 11-year-old reportedly suffered a neck injury in a two-car collision at Alleghany and Main roads in Pembroke (routes 77 and 5). Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics. The accident is not blocking traffic and was initially reported as being without injuries.

UPDATE 7:41 p.m.: A second ambulance, from Darien, is requested to the scene in non-emergency mode.

UPDATE 8:06 p.m.: The 11-year-old girl's head slammed into the head rest and she has neck pain as a result. She's being taken to UMMC. She's in stable condition and there was no loss of consciousness. A second patient is also being taken to UMMC by the same Mercy rig. Traffic is reportedly at a standstill at the accident site.

UPDATE 8:10 p.m.: Pembroke is back in service.

UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: The other patients are a 12-year-old with a headache, which has persisted all day, and a 17-year-old complaining of shoulder pain.
