Speaker at Oakfield Community Center: Aircraft Down -- True Story of American Survival in WWII

Guest speaker Brian Glor tells the harrowing and heroic tale of his father’s experience in Corfu, Greece during the devastation of WWII. Fred Glor was right waist gunner on a bombing mission over Greece in a B-17 “Flying Fortress” when their plane went down  

This is Installment 1 of the Oakfield Historical Society’s 2020 program series. Free and open to the public

At Oakfield Community Center: Greg Kinal lectures on Lincoln's assassination, free

Oakfield Historical Society is proud to present the October installment of our 2019 lecture series.

Speaker Greg Kinal will provide the background to the plot to kill Lincoln as well as all the characters who played a part in that terrible night. Kinal, who will celebrate 50 years as a Pembroke teacher next year, gives about 75 speeches a year and 40 presentations for historical societies.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at the program's conclusion, and 50/50 raffle winner will be drawn.

Oakfield Historical Society Open House

Oakfield Historical Society's museum is open Sundays in November 1-3 pm at 7 Maple Avenue, Oakfield, NY. Admittance is free, families are welcome. Come see our 2018 displays including OACS Through the Years, plus Native American artifacts and reproductions, and our War Room tributes. Our exhibits are designed to be mostly self-guided. All of our published books are available for purchase, and make terrific gifts, including our most recent "The Stories Behind the Businesses (The Way We Were) Our Carefree Years" authored by Darlene Warner.

Come see our 2018 displays including OACS Through the Years, plus Native American and War exhibits. Our exhibits are designed to be mostly self-guided. All of our published books are available for purchase, including our most recent "For Home and Country: Oakfield During World War II".

St. Mark’s Open House

In celebration of its 200th anniversary in 2017, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1 East Main St., LeRoy is sponsoring a Photo Contest open to all ages.  The sanctuary of St. Mark’s Church, decorated for Christmas, will be open to photographers for interior photos on Saturday, December 17 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Considered the most photographed building in Genesee County, St. Mark’s has a beautiful natural setting above Oatka Creek with architecture in the English Gothic style.
