We are doing a cancer benefit for my niece, Lisa Bostwick Manes. It is at the Elba firehall from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday June 25th.

The debut of a community blood drive dubbed “The Battle of the Badges” will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at Quality Inn & Suites, 8250 Park Road, Batavia.
It’s being presented by Tompkins Financial for the American Red Cross.

Volunteers For Animals will be offering a microchip clinic during Hogs for Paws at Stan’s Harley Davidson from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13th. The motorcycle dealership is located at 4425 W. Saile Drive in the Town of Batavia.
Cost of microchipping is $30 per animal, which includes the injection, a collar ID tag and national registration. Accepted payment is either cash or checks (made out to Volunteers For Animals), sorry no credit cards. No preregistration necessary.

Lucas turned 1 on June 27 and had undergone his third major brain surgery by Aug. 5. The family is consulting with a doctor in NYC soon for a second opinion.
Genesee Cancer Assistance will hold its Annual Bocce & Golf Against Cancer tournament at Batavia Country Club, 7909 Batavia Byron Road, Batavia, NY on Friday, August 19, 2016 (12PM shotgun start for golf, 1PM start for bocce).
This year’s event honors Nick Grasso who is battling cancer.

Batavia Cross Training will hold its Inaugural Scavenger Hunt at Batavia Cross Training, 34 Swan Street, Batavia, NY on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 6PM.
Teams of 4 will venture out into the community with instructions and tasks to complete using any means of transportation except motorized vehicles to travel between challenge sites. Participants do not have to be Batavia Cross Training members so anyone can join a team and enjoy the fun! Cost is $10 per person ($40 per team) and ALL proceeds will be donated to Genesee Cancer Assistance to help cancer patients in Genesee County.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser takes place this Saturday, rain or shine, starting at the Genesee County Nursing Home. It is is located at 278 Bank St. in Batavia.
Staging area opens at 9 a.m. and the walk ceremony — known as the “mission moment” — begins at 10 a.m. and the walk goes until approximately 11:30 a.m.
This is a family friendly event with refreshment, entertainment, basket and 50/50 raffles, etc.
Funds raised support programs of the nonprofit Alzheimer’s Association WNY, which offers no-cost resources and consultations across Genesee County.
An American Red Cross blood drive for a baby girl named Ella battling pediatric cancer is scheduled in the auditorium at Batavia High School from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

On Friday, October 21, 2016 5PM-8PM, the ladies from Shake It Off Zumba will be working to support Genesee Cancer Assistance as guest bartenders at Ri-Dan’s Sports Park, 3755 West Main St. Rd., Batavia, NY.
Also on the evening agenda are a chicken BBQ, a 50/50 raffle, and basket raffles. Each chicken BBQ dinner includes 1/2 chicken, macaroni salad, salt potatoes, and corn muffin, all for just $10.

The 4th Annual Burpees for Boobs event will be held at Batavia Cross Training, 34 Swan Street, Batavia, NY on Saturday, October 29, 2016 7AM-12PM. Partner workout times are 7:00, 8:30, & 10:00. A basket raffle will be available for participants and non-participants.
The fourth annual Mr. Batavia fundraiser will be held on Friday April 15th at 7 p.m. in the Batavia High School Auditorium.
This is a student run event sponsored by Batavia High School Student Government. We have 12 senior contestants and each contestant has chosen to represent a different local charity. All of the money raised from ticket sales at the event will go to the winner’s charity.
Come out and support the animals of the Genesee County Animal Shelter by donating scrap metal.
Volunteers for Animals are collecting scrap metal to raise money for the animals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 5th in the parking lot at the shelter, located at 3841 W. Main Street Road, Batavia.
Metal of any kind will be accepted: railings, doors, garbage cans, file cabinets, bicycle frames, gutters, pipes, poles, fencing, window frames, lawn furniture, tools, shelving, washing machines, dryers, stoves, wheel barrows, wagons, etc.
The Genesee County 4-H Sheep and Goat Club will be holding a car wash fundraiser from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, April 16th at the Batavia Tractor Supply Store, 4974 East Main St. Road, Batavia.
Cost is $5 per car and profits will be put toward installing new animal pens in their barns at the Genesee County Fair, held in Batavia during the week of July 11.
