CANCELLED: GSO Flute Quartet performs at HLOM for Wonderland of Trees, RSVP to attend in person, also to be livestreamed

Don't forget that tomorrow night a flute quartet from the Genesee Symphony Orchestra will be at the Holland Land Office Museum to help celebrate Wonderland of Trees.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will be two 20 minute sessions. We are having a limited audience available to attend, which will be limited to 12 people. If you would like to attend please call the museum at (585) 343-4727 to register. There are still some spots available.

The museum is located at 131 W. Main St. in the City of Batavia.

Genesee Chorale invites you to virtual holiday performance: 'And on Earth, Peace'

The Genesee Chorale invites you to join them for a unique Holiday virtual performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19th.

The performance, titled "And on Earth, Peace" is meant to evoke a sense of calm, hope and peace; in this time of uncertainty and fear, our music is meant to be a welcome balm to our community, glad tidings and heartfelt goodwill from Batavia's own Genesee Chorale.

Annual 'Warm the Night' event at Batavia Middle School: winter clothes, hot cocoa, reps from local resources

This Thursday, Nov. 19, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Batavia Middle School and John Kennedy Intermediate are hosting a COVID-19 friendly event for all Batavia City School District families.

The annual Warm the Night will be held at Batavia Middle School at 96 Ross St.

Families are invited to come and pick out gently used and new winter clothing (including coats, hats, gloves, scarves and boots) for members of their family.

The Recovery Station hosts alcohol- and drug-free social event 'Lighthouse Lounge'

The Recovery Station at 5256 Clinton Street Road, Batavia, is hosting an alcohol- and drug-free social event on Nov. 25.

Open to community members 18 years of age and older, the activity will kick off a monthly activity known as Lighthouse Lounge at the center, a program of Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.

Neighborhood Legal Services Inc. will present a FREE virtual legal clinic via Zoom on housing and evictions from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County Board of Directors meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Nov. 15 is last day for GC United Way's virtual basket raffle to fund Backpack Program

The United Way of Genesee County’s Women United group is presenting a virtual basket auction fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will be used to purchase food for the United Way’s Backpack Program.

This program supplies weekend meals to students throughout Genesee County.

The Women United Basket Auction runs through Nov. 15th.

It is hosted by William Kent Auctions and sponsored by The Hidden Door. With almost 50 items open for bidding, you will find there is something for everyone.

Basket RAFFLE called OFF -- but PIE SALE is still ON at St. James church

St. James Episcopal Church will hold the Third Annual Pie Sale/Basket Raffle on Friday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church, 405 E. Main St., Batavia. Admission is free; masks required.

Corfu hosts Autumn in the Village

The Village of Corfu and Better Corfu Committee will be having an Autumn in the Village event from 2 to 6 p.m. on Halloween -- Saturday, Oct. 31st.

Tarot card readings, paintings, handmade items by several local artists. And of course, trick-or-treating, which will start at 5 p.m. There will be a spooky Haunted House at 44 Alleghany Road.

Walk around the village and see the scarecrows. There will be a Story Walk at the Corfu Free Library.

Debut Virtual Art Demo via Zoom

The Batavia Society of Artists is hosting its debut Virtual Art Demonstration at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10th. Shauna Blake will demonstrate painting on silk with dyes via a virtual Zoom meeting.

Wednesday Oct. 21 -- deadline to buy tickets for Pink Hatters Fundraiser this Saturday -- drive-thru BBQ

Rochester Regional Health will celebrate breast cancer survivors at United Memorial Medical Center’s Pink Hatters annual fundraiser. The more than 20-year tradition will look different than in years past.

With safety top of mind, this year’s fundraiser has been converted into a drive-thru chicken barbeque. It will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Town of Batavia Fire Hall on Lewiston Road in Batavia.

Hollwedel Memorial Library in Pavilion hosts drive-thru Halloween daytime 'Trunk-or-Treat'

Families are invited to visit the Hollwedel Memorial Library “Trunk-or-Treat” on Halloween day for a fun drive thru event. Kids can show off their costumes and pick up some treats as they drive through the loop in front of the library. 

Visiting “Trunk or Treaters” are asked to stay in their cars for the safety of all. Treats will be delivered to each car in the loop. 

The library is open for regular services -- and the "Trunk-or-Treat" event that day from 10 a.m. to noon.

Free drive-thru anti-rabies clinic at GC Fairgrounds, for GC residents only

The Genesee County Health Departments will host a FREE drive thru anti-rabies immunization clinic Oct. 15.

Note that last month, Orleans County had two exposures from feral cats that tested positive for rabies and resulted in unnecessary and costly post exposure treatments. It’s important to avoid contact with unknown animals both wild and domestic – love your own, leave the rest alone. It is an important reminder that all dogs, cats and ferrets are to be updated on their rabies vaccines.

Le Roy Village police reform committee meeting at village hall

The first meeting of the police reform committee for the Village of Le Roy is Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Hall, 3 W. Main St. The public is welcome but due to COVID-19 restrictions seating is extremely limited.
