Serious injury accident on the Thruway in Batavia

A one-vehicle rollover accident with possibly one person ejected and unconscious is reported in the eastbound lane of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 387.9.

Serious injuries are reported.

Mercy Flight is on a ground standby.

Town of Batavia fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

The location is next to the Genesee Community College Batavia Campus.

UPDATE(S) 3:31 (By Billie): A vehicle is on its roof, off the roadway. A second and third ambulance are dispatched.

UPDATE 3:34 p.m.: "Be advised traffic is backed up to west of Bank Street."

UPDATE 4:06 p.m.: Mercy Flight was cancelled. At least two of the ambulances transported patients to Strong Memorial Hospital. The accident site is about a quarter mile west of GCC.

Accident reported on Chick Road, Darien

A rollover accident involving a pickup truck is reported at 2148 Chick Road, Darien.

No word on injuries.

Darien fire and ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 10:33 p.m.: The caller who found the vehicle did not see anybody in or around the vehicle. A K-9 is being dispatched to track the driver.

UPDATE 10:38 p.m.: Law enforcement is now communicating on a secure channel.

UPDATE 10:48 p.m.: All Darien units back in service.

Bicyclist is in stable condition after being struck by vehicle on Pearl Street Thursday

Press release from City PD:

On Thursday, June 14, at or about 9:28 p.m., members of the Batavia Police Department were dispatched to a car vs. bicyclist personal injury accident on Pearl Street near Brooklyn Ave.

The driver of the motor vehicle was present on scene.

The bicyclist was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation of their injuries. The bicyclist is in stable condition and does not have any life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle has been fully cooperative with the investigation.

This is an active investigation with the Batavia Police Department, and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office; Accident Reconstruction Team.

Pedestrian struck on Pearl Street in the city

A pedestrian has reportedly been struck by a vehicle at 44 Pearl St. in the city. The location is between Franklin Street and Brooklyn Avenue. City fire and Mercy medics are responding.

Car into tree reported off Thruway in Batavia

A car has reportedly hit a tree off the Thruway in the area of mile marker 393.7 in the westbound lane.

Unknown injuries.

Tractor-trailer rollover, no injuries, in Byron

A tractor-trailer rollover accident with no injuries is reported at Bergen Road and South Holley Road, Byron.

Fluids are leaking.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: Mercy EMS requested to the scene for evaluation of back pain.

UPDATE 5:08 (By Billie): The driver was initially believed to be uninjured, but subsequently complained of back pain and Mercy medics are called to evaluate him. Command at the scene says the rig dumped half a load of liquid manure because of the accident. No other vehicles were involved. Sawdust is being trucked in from a nearby farm; sand from the highway department may be required, but that has not been deemed necessary at this point.

Vehicle off the road Brookville Road and Hunn, Alexander

A caller reports hearing a screech and looking out her window and saw a car off the road with steam coming from the engine on Hunn Road at Brookville Road, Alexander.

A deputy on scene reports a driver with a head injury but conscious and alert.

Alexander fire and ambulance responding. Units responding can respond non-emergency. Mercy EMS was dispatched but can go back in service.

UPDATE 1:22 p.m.: Alexander back in service. Patient sign off.

Arm injury reported in an accident on Route 20, Alexander

A man either had his arm run over or otherwise entangled in a vehicle in the area of 4116 Broadway, Alexander.

The vehicle is off the road and has a trailer attached that is now blocking Route 20, westbound.

Rollover accident reported on Route 98, Elba, with possible minor injuries

A rollover accident is reported in the area of 7578 Oak Orchard Road, Elba, which is just north of Daws Corners.

Minor injuries reported but extrication needed.

A first responder says the vehicle is on its tires.

Motorcycle accident reported on Route 237, Stafford

A motorcycle accident with injuries is reported at 8525 Route 237, Stafford.

No word on whether other vehicles were involved.

Accident with injuries reported in front of Jan's Smoke Shop in Alabama

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in front of Jan's Smoke Shop at 383 Bloomingdale Road, Alabama. One person is injured, according to a firefighter at the scene. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 8:47 a.m.: A first responder at the scene says two vehicles are involved and they are blocking traffic.

UPDATE 8:48 a.m.: Alabama command says the ambulance can continue in non-emergency mode for evaluation of two patients, possibly sign-offs.

Crash with injuries reported at Lewiston and Park roads, Batavia

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Lewiston and Park roads in front of Town of Batavia Fire Station. Four vehicles were involved. "All the vehicles are clear; there's just a lot of debris in the roadway."

Injuries are reported; one victim is a 12-year-old child. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:28 p.m.: A second ambulance is requested for a victim with a knee injury.

Motorcyclists collide with deer in Darien, injuries reported

Two motorcyclists struck a deer and injuries are reported in the area of 1162 Broadway Road (Route 20), Darien.

Darien fire and Mercy EMS are responding along with law enforcement.

UPDATE 2:13 p.m.: Two people are injured. The location is between Route 77 and Warner Road.

UPDATE 2:18 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene reports the motorcycle and a trailer attached to it are well off the roadway. The two victims have arm injuries. The motorcycle license plate is from Arkansas.

Car vs. big rig accident reported on westbound Thruway

A car vs. tractor-trailer accident with unknown injuries is reported on the westbound Thruway near mile marker 393.6. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:17 a.m.: A first responder on scene reports there are two victims in a heavily damaged car that is smoking, off the roadway, on the north side of the Thruway. The victims have "relatively minor injuries." The tractor-trailer and its driver are stopped about a half mile west of the accident scene; the uninjured driver acknowledges striking the car. A Mercy medic says "We have a patient who has just become violent. Can we get a trooper here?" The location is just prior to the Depew exit "for the airport"; there is a lot of debris in the roadway. Law enforcement is responding.

UPDATE 2:28 a.m.: The tractor-trailer is not hauling any hazardous materials, says a firefighter. It is leaking antifreeze.

UPDATE 2:37 a.m.: An ambulance from Le Roy is called to the scene of the minor-injury accident. State police have arrived.

UPDATE 2:40 a.m.: "We're all set; we're going to pick up and leave," says Town of Batavia fire command.

UPDATE 2:59 a.m.: Mercy medics are back in service. Le Roy ambulance is transporting a patient to ECMC.

Car vs. pedestrian accident reported by Rancho Viejo Restaurant

A car vs. pedestrian accident near Rancho Viejo Mexican Restaurant is reported in the City of Batavia. A female is down in the roadway at 12 Ellicott St. City Fire Department Engine #11 is on scene and Mercy medics are responding. A first responder reports the pedestrian is complaining of leg pain.

UPDATE 7:37 p.m.: A teenage girl was running across Ellicott Street from the area of the Upton Monument when she was struck by a vehicle with the right of way. She suffered an ankle inury and is being transported to UMMC. The driver was not cited.
