Soft opening for new coffee shop on Main and Jackson

Rob Crede, manager of The Daily Grind on Main and Jackson in Batavia, serves Jim Kujawski on the first day of business for the new coffee shop and juice bar.

Owner Ken Mistler (pictured below) has been preparing for the opening for months, but characterizes this week's opening as "soft" so any kinks can be worked out.  But soft or not, Rob served a steady stream of customers this morning.

Meanwhile, the gym, Next Level, adjacent to the coffee shop, is moving closer to opening in a few weeks.  More pictures follow the jump.

OK, I have a beef with the Daily News here. On the day that a locally owned and operated shop like The Daily Grind opens, they run a story about a chain coffee shop from Canada. Best of luck to Rob and Ken.

Best of luck Rob, and Ken! The other place will realize it sooner or later, bad choice and they'll be gone too, like the others. More folks are looking to support local business and you'll win out in the end. Their stuff will be "frozen" fresh like some of the others. The mural Vinnie is doing is terrific, as all of the ones he worked so hard on and are now gone. This one being "inside" will hopefully last for years to come. A very talented "local" artist. Consistancy will be important...I've seen that with another local business, and it has "flown" over the years. That would be the "Southside Deli" (among others). Great service and always the same quality. The place is always packed. Jeff and his crew do a great job in a locally owned and loved business. Not to promote the deli, but there are secrets there to helping a local business survive.
