Car on fire at toll booth in Pembroke, driver left in another vehicle

posted by Howard B. Owens in fire, news, pembroke.

A car with no license plates was reported on fire on the Thruway side of the toll booth in Pembroke.

A toll taker reports the driver got out of the car and into a car driven by a female.

The car is a Nissan Altima.

Officers on scene suspect it's stolen and they are asking to see any Thruway video surveillance of the area.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched.

UPDATE 10:32 a.m.: Fire is out.

Stolen? Up for repo? Lost in divorce/breakup?

LOL Robert. Don't know about any of that, but I can tell you it sure was hot and after we put water on it, it was steamin' hot. It is surprising how little is left of these newer cars after the plastic and aluminum is melted off.

Dave I am well aware of what cars look like after a fire and when water is applied. I heard the entire call and when I went to bed my department was called to a car fire on the Thruway as well.

Yeah, whatever happened, it got going big pretty quick. Be safe out there Robert.
